on a recent trip melbourne to Deniliquin I had 10.5 on the trip comp. Filled up in Moama on my way back , had done 356k took 35.6l.

Amazing what some people have achieved in thier falcons, my little 2.0ltr manual Sonata work hack (EFI) gets roughly 9ltr/100km about 70/30 mix of stop start/cruising, majority of cruising (almost highway like). So estimated highway should be about 8ltr/100km or just under, when you got auto 4.0ltr barges using not much more. I guess the low end torque and tall gearing helps alot though

I only did around 500kms on that tank and refilled with 91 Octane, which gave me 9.1l/100km on the return leg - exact same highway! Maybe there was an opposing headwind on the way back.

7.9l/100km was achieved with two passengers, around 40kg of luggage and no A/C. So pretty light travelling. But still plenty of violent overtaking spurts :evil3:

Edit - 13 000km on the clock, so barely worn in.

2 trips from brisbane to sunshine coast in the past 2 weekends 1st trip averaged 7.1 /100 up there 2nd trip averaged 7.5/100 , city and highway driving total of 605 km and it took 57 litres to fill after the first trip . last years bathurst trip averaged 8.5 for over 2300 km . 05 bf sedan with extractors, k&n filter , xr snorkel .

9.0l/100k Melbourne to Parkes, did it easily on one tank also stopping too many times. A/C going all the. Two people and luggage. Fuel was E10. This also includes driving about 40k's in Parkes. Prob would have gone below 9l mark but reached the destination so all good.

Best I've managed in the BA is 8.4L/100k from Katoomba to Olympic Sydney, mostly downhill and highway/motorway :p

Averaged 9.3L/100k using 95 RON in the TX5 in a 3300km trip from Sydney to SE Qld and back.
Cost me $387 though... average fuel price was $1.30 :(

Thats bloody fantastic! I consistantly got 12L/100km on LPG on a trip from Adelaide to Wangaratta for the jazzfest back in november. Although 4 people in the car, fully laden with luggage, and the EB we took was in horrendous mechanical condition.

A little off topic: although this gets me to thinking, im planning a road trip with some mates from adelaide through to the great ocean road to Melbourne and then all along the beach coast to the big smoke in Sydney, we're calling it the East Coast Tour haha. We'll be taking my car, i hope to be able to achieve about 8.5/9 on the road but the query i have is this:

The EF tank is 68 litres supposedly, and when i put $50 in from the red light being on (at 99.9c, 50L basically) the needle goes right up past full, where would there be space for another 13 litres??

got a Chrysler Voyager avg. around town 18.7/100 and on at trip from newcastle to bris vagas got 12.5/100 and was very happy in the xr6 when it does come out off shed don't really care about econemy just drive it like tickford made it to be driven :

my AU is also a 68L tank and it fill easy to about 50 litres then it takes about 5-10mins to put the rest in but it takes about 100k's before the needle moves from over the full line.lol.filled up for under $1.00 last week and squeezed 63 or so litres in and it cost me $62 which is the least its ever cost to fill. the car has 450k's on the trip computer atm and it says its still got 250 or so left.

A recent run from Melb to Omeo to Wangaratta to Melb averaged 10.1 in the XR5T with an average speed indicated of 95km/h.

Currently it is sitting at 10.5 l /100km for city driving, 30+ degrees with A/C on.

BA I6 averaged 14.0 l/100km for the same time.

AU I6 auto, best was 7.56l/100km over 650km. Although I rarely use over 8l/100kmh on a trip. Cruise control does wonders.

Gas guzzling big cars is a myth. A mid sized Jappa 2.0 of the same year would get similar results as me in my Falcon. Except I can seat 5 in comfort, with luggage, and tow a boat etc. with ease.

BA Futura gets 8.6L/100km consistantly with 2 occupants and a weeks worth of luggage each time I go from Newcastle to Ballina (6.5hr trip). I wasn't trying to save fuel, had aircon going all the time, cruise on most of the time, plenty of road works (will be for all eternity too I rekon).

I used to get 15.9L around town when I was 5mins from work, but now Im getting 11-12L in town traffic now that Im 30mins from work. Cant complain.

FG G6E Turbo, got 7.4 L / 100km on run from Gold Coast to Narangba, beat the 7.8 I got the week before that. It was a 32C day and climate control was set to 21.5 Auto. Tires are 40 PSI and I always use 98.

i like me falcons, mainly newer ones like BA's upwards, but i take a real fancy to el xr6's

i personally own a 05 VZ Wagon though, its a great car, dont take this the wrong way im not here to cause holden vs ford debates, i buy cars i like at the time....


anyway, on the freeway, i get 7.8L/100km, if ive got my 50lt fridge, extra battery and luggage etc about 8.1L/100km pretty good being all loaded up, around town is about 12L/100km but varys a bit, allways running 98 fuel

7.6 BF XR6 Brisbane to Gold Coast. Car was only 2 days old and had less than 200klm on the ODO.

With exhaust now done, lucky to get below 8s

Mine sits around 9 or 10 litres per hundred when driving around town on 95 octane tune. 7 and 8 litres per hundred at 100kph, and 8.8 - 10 litres per hundred at fluctuating long distance 130-140kmph speeds. Yes..I'm aware of the 130kmph speed limit.

The other day I drove 757kms, a little of the trip was air con, most at 130kms per hour. and I had 43 kms till empty.

80 litre tank, bf ute.

Have got 700kms out of power tune to a tank, but haven't really done it properly on the highway.

Ok then. My GTP will do 16L/100km around town mostly in traffic to and from work, Ive done 1 open road trip in it at xmas/ new years and managed 11L/100km in traffic and using 5th gear alot and no cruise control.

My car is completely standard too.
