After 30 years with the company this year, I'm using the last of LSL starting in 4 weeks' time and will exhaust all my accumulated leave and sickies before I retire as I see bad times for the steel industry. Cheers. |

I hate when you try to buy something on Gumtree and the seller sporadically replies
Trying to buy a Ute tub for a job, seller has no phone contact details listed, so I send a message yesterday morning asking if its available and the price, four hours later I get "yes", so I reply straight away with when can I pick it up, all I get is crickets So I send him a message last night if he could send me his number so I can call, still crickets, then I get a message with send your number and I will get straight back to you, so instantly I sent my number, crickets again. Like WTF, do you wanna sell it or not ?, a contact number with the first yes would have had this deal done and dusted. I will just buy the other one that's listed instead, little further out, but at least I will have the job done by the time this other peanut calls me. |

So half hour drive to get there, well when I get there, there is a MR Triton tub that looks like it has been dropped off the back of a truck, not a straight panel on it, I would say worse than the one we are going to replace, he comes out and I just turn and start walking away, he yells out arent you going to make me a offer, F'ing time waster, so I drive home to find the other 1 I was looking at has gone off Facebook . I have now found another, I hope its as he has described, will see tonight when I get there. |

my daughter was advertising a 10 year old electric upright oven give away.
GIVE AWAY was mentioned 6 times in the add, too many numbats asking how much. First person to views say " I'll take it how much you want for it?" Hubby (I love my SIN) says "$100" cash is duly handed over, oven dissapears and everybody is happy

Its dumb****ery or shitfoolery to expect a pristine item delevered on a silver platter if its 2nd hand and cheap or free. Reminds me of this chick i knew years ago. She paid $500 for a 1984 camry with 8 months rego. Rust, no issue, it had heaps. What she went at the seller for after purchase was the Ac didnt work. The 500 was for the rego in my opinion. |

Good old Gumtree, hence why I still have 3 heavy 5th wheel turntables sitting waiting for the scrap man to pick up.
Advertise for free and the first thing they ask is can you deliver ? Yeah right.

Poor little Pug daily exploded its driveline this evening. I think the diff blew, briefly locking the motor and causing the cam belt to skip. Gear oil/G70 all on the road and a tilt tray home. I apologise to motorcyclists for the slippery trail.

Flew from Perth to Broome for my daughters wedding. Got off the plane, waited for our luggage that never came. The only 2 people on the plane, me and the Mrs whos luggage didnt make it. All our wedding gear.
No one at the counter to help. Eventuakly found a youn guy, baggage handler, he made some calls and said " I think I got it on the next flight arriving at 6pm. I knock off at 7 and will bring it to your hotel". Sure enough he did, what a legend, slung him $20 to have a drink on me. Bloody Qantas useless as F.

Towing's not cheap these days. 25kms doesn't get you far here.

A new tilt tray is a $200,000 investment, then it costs a grand to fill the tank, if your lucky you can squeeze 1000 ks out of a tank, tyres are $400 a pop, insurance is $5000 per year minimum if you can find a insurer, then rego, anual inspections, services, mechanical failures, so yeah the days of a $50 tow are long gone.
I used to do RAC breakdown towing for a short while, RAC would pay for the first 10k's, then it was $5 per k therafter + GST, once I paid my percentage to the company, took out fuel and expenses, took out the GST, tax etc, it worked out that I had just paid out of my own pocket to tow a strangers car, there is no money in brekdown towing, we did it because RAC accident towing was a major part of our contract and the breakdown was part of it. |

Funny you should say that.. I once told a guy at a set of traffic lights that his brake lights weren't working, I mean all of them. He says "what are you a mechanic or something"? FFS, was only trying to save him a decent fine and or a defect notice... Some people..

Years ago, somewhere on the old Pacific Goat-track near Ballina, driving at the speed allowed by the crap conditions, I came up behind a car that had a very wobbly rear passenger wheel, but not being driven slowly as the driver seemed unaware. Flashed my lights, blew the horn, made gestures for him to pull over. Nope. Ignored. When we got to a small town, he pulled over, and bounced out of his car full of aggro. I calmly got out, told him he had a loose wheel, and he wanted to argue about it. Walked to the wheel, gave it a shove with my foot and it moved about 2 inches, and had 3 loose nuts just holding it on. No apology, no thanks, no comment. Just stood gormlessly looking at it while I walked back to my car. I CBFd doing stuff like that anymore. Their car, their problem, their defect. |

Yeah, same here.. I was heading upto Renmark from Adelaide some years ago and saw a BA Falcon pulled over in a parking bay with the bonnet open. There were about 5 elderly Indian people all out of the car (outside temp was like 38+ degrees) looking agitated. No, I'm not racist, I hate everyone equally! I turn around and head back to help them out. Turns out the Falcon was on LPG and had run low on coolant and you can guess the rest (frozen convertor). I always carried a 5 litre bottle of water in the boot. So I refilled reservoir with 5 litres. Nope. Still not enough. So I used my personal drinking water to top it off. Fired it up and just like magic, it ran fine. There was some mumbling amongst them. All but the driver hopped back in. Driver looks at me... closes the bonnet, without saying a word, hops back in the car and boots off. No thanks, no offer of money, no Jack Sheeit. Some people are just thankless. Keeping in mind I did it to help, not to get a reward.. A thanks was all that was needed to make me feel good. Quote:

Looks like the engine survived, only half the carnage (gearbox) to deal with now. Slightly less to hate. :-)

Dental pain… Had an infected molar out this morning, it cracked into bits under the forceps as it was so tightly rooted and they dug the scraps out to finish. Got to drive in the morning so can’t knock it down with opiates but OTC painkillers are doing 9/10 of nothing. Can’t wait for this to back off a little.
