Our lovely neighbours of 20+ years just sold their home.
I went over today to congratulate them on the sale and to let them know they will be missed. I worry who is coming to replace them (even though Im likely the noisiest person in the court) |

Yes thats a pain. Reminds me of a bloke i worked with. Drove into a shopping centre with an 8 foot ladder on the roof of the express van, hit the height bar and panicked when cars behind beeped at him. Took the ladder off, an 8 foot ladder doesnt fit in the back of an express with shelves and a safety cage. He put it in the back and slammed the tailgate. Rear glass popped out in 1 piece and shattered when it hit the ground.

I’ve broken the rear glass in an L300, one of those huge diesel heated pressure washers stretched its tethers as I accelerated (it’s relative ) up the Gladesville Bridge.
Hopped online that afternoon, found a bloke in Wyong parting out the same van, $65 with the rubber seal and he’d remove plus deliver to Hornsby as he passed through. Felt like a huge win in the face of my original horror. |

As a tangent, did you know if you remove the stock headunit on an 09 express, taped the the back is a 3.5mm aux cable. Drill a hole in the back of the tray under it to feed it through, plug in a 3.5mm male to male audio cable, hold the am button then you can listen to music off your phone.

That's ok, you're forgiven, it's a very catchy song.

Probs a bit nicer than the earworm I couldn't get out of my head last night when I should have been sleeping
This song was on when I went for my walk last night. Had forgotten it this morning. But it's back with a vengeance now Warning, some may be offended by this (remember, it's just parody)

Yesterday, I rescheduled an appointment that I was due to attend this afternoon at 3.30. All good, appointed changed to the same day in two weeks.
Today at 4pm I had a call from a number I didn't recognize, which I let ring out. I have stopped answering my phone because of all the spam I get these days. If it's important, they will either leave me a message, send me text or send me an email. I have no reason to speak with someone on a phone unless it's life threatening. Anyway, the person ringing left me a message to say I missed my 3.30 appointment. Grrrrr, why is it so hard sometimes.

Took a day off the forums, been focused on getting stuff done before the rain and other dates that matter.
The schmucks painting a new house up behind me tipped out their paint brush cleaning solutions at the rear fenceline. It immediately percolated through and I have a cloudy white river from front to rear of the property with some pooling of enamel scum in places. Not happy, Jan! I was onto the principal contractor soon as I saw it - but the damage is done, to scrape up and remediate would be more disruptive again. |

I have a 2014 CX5. The drivers headlight blew out.
Had to pull out the inner plastic wheel guard to get to the back of the light assembly. Finally got the globe out, weird looking thing, OSRAM, made in Germany Xenon globe. Go to Repco, replacement $304. The guy says you better get on the internet and search around. Then tells me he had a Jeep customer a few weeks ago, $600 and Jeep wanted $1300 (sounds a bit far fetched, but there you go). So I get onto eBay, type in the part number, can get another Osram from the UK, $200. Find a shop in SA, twin pack, Phillips $30. I thought car manufacturers were trying to keep the costs of building a car down, bloody ridiculous. Now if that been my old Mum going to the dealership as she always does for her servicing, she would have just paid it and got ripped.

Waited 45 minutes for a less than 2-minute dental check up this morning. Of course, I turned up 10 minutes early, why can't health care professionals return the favor.
Anyway, I was more than happy sitting in the waiting room, Bathurst Practice Session 3 was on the TV, I could have sat there all day! The Dentist to his credit apologized profusely about the wait time, which I was not expecting. I didn't confess that I was perfectly happy with the wait, especially considering a Ford was leading the session, but the apology was gracefully accepted, I mean how often does that realistically happen from a doctor?

I went to the shops in my Uggs. I was a bit iffy on wearing them because it was wet but I ****ed around and found out.
As soon as stepped through the door onto the tiles, I had crazy legs and was quickly on the floor, luckily on the knees and shins and not on my **** and head bouncing off it. I need re-treads |

After finally building up the courage to give my very first blood donation a few months back (altho I do wonder why I waited so long, I had nothing to fear!), I was looking forward to continuing the habit.
A few weeks back, I decided I would donate plasma this time around as you can donate plasma more frequently than whole blood, and it's a more versatile product. To do this, I donate whilst I am on site as the nearest town to work has a dedicated centre that takes plasma donations, whereas the bus that comes to my home town only takes whole blood. As part of the screening process, they run you through all of the potential side effects, with one of them being dizziness. I discussed with the attendant about my hearing loss and the subsequent dizziness and that my dizziness had got worse since having had covid. She was reluctant to take my donation given the potential risks and asked me to call the 1300 number to discuss my circumstances with one of the Red Cross nurses. I did that Tuesday, only to have her say that they won't take any donations from me in the future due to my dizziness issues and the risk of something happening after giving a donation: either plasma or whole blood. I get the cautious approach, but I am super bummed that I was only able to give one donation. I should have started years ago, well before I lost my hearing.

They also need dog plasma at vets so if you have a healthy dog and prepared to do it.

Ferreting about deep in my “good scrap” pile by torchlight to try reading part numbers on the cats there, chipped top of my scalp with the sharp corner of a large panel cut. You know it’s a decent wound when the pointy object has skin/hair stuck on it…

One of my clients had his kayak stolen last night from his front yard, which was brought home in preparation for the floods.
As if people don't have enough crap to deal with at the moment. While there has been a strong sense of community over the last week, sadly that effect didn't rub off on the bastards who live their life by taking from others while they are down. Disgraceful, disgusting behavior.

It’s definitely spring. Hayfever - which sucks. Even by the “non-drowsy” medication slows me down.
Heard one or two neighbours having a sneezefest as well, so it’s not just my dusty work. |

Zyrtec on the other hand, still uses an antihistamine, but its active ingredient is cetirizine. Claratyne uses Loratadine. This line in the Choice article pretty much sums it up: Quote:

It feels like I am taking hay fever meds almost all year round, tablets and nose sprays off and on. as FostrotGoldXray said, try different meds. Apparently they can lose effectiveness if you use the same one constantly and I was told (from a friend of a friend of a friend) that different times of year and different pollen can be treated better with different tablets. I usually go for the generic brands with the active ingredient I want, my local chemist has the name brand and matching generic side by side which makes it easier
