G'day all.
I found your forum while looking for fixes for the girlfriends trusty old EL Fairmont a few months back...and I found some very useful guidance...thanks. I loved to drive her car so much that I bought my own EL Fairmont...except mine is lowered with SSS King springs and Monroe gas shocks...has had Tickford bottom end and cam fitted...a really, really powerful sound system installed and is in much better overall condition despite some flaws. So I decided I should join the forum and try to participate...and find more info on the vehicles from those with the experience to know...or at least are able to have an educated guess...what the problem may be. I have had a few fords before, my favourite being a tango orange XB that was beautiful to look at and drive with its specially installed lowered suspension, altered interior and tricked motor. My next favourite was a 2 litre Cortina believe it or not...raised heavy duty suspension and tricked motor but ugly as sin...used generally as an off road vehicle of all things...then silly me thought I could replace it with another Cortina...I called it the mintie because it was green and I replaced so many panels with white ones it looked like a mintie wrapper. In descending order of personal mortification I also had a 1.3 litre escort panel van as a learner and p-plater for interpersonal entertainment purposes and fishing wagon...a 6cyl EF sedan 1 previous owner as a commuter with my young family and an XA 302 sedan that nearly killed me when the brakes failed at 90mph when I was 20...in a 60K zone. Anyway...enough rambling Nice to meet you all |

Hello all,
Long time Lurker, first time poster. I recently purchased a second hand Tx 2007 Territory RWD. So whilst trying to find accessories and general support information for the vehicle I came across this site. So far I have been able to get some excellent info on that Nudge Bar to fit, chose the TJM Low Loop Nudge Bar with the GME 76 Antenna Mount. I am using it to mount my FAMPARC 5 Band HF antenna to. This then runs into a ICOM 706mk2 great for mobile HF work whilst on the road. Doing the upgrade for the rear bushes as well as they are not far from being replaced. Also looking at putting the aux auto cooler in as I do tow on occasion but can also see the sense of getting auto as stable as possible. Am also looking to see if anyone has got or seen a good radio mounting system for the territory and what cable path exists through the firewall for power and coax cables. Anyway just thought i would say Hi. 2007Terry. |

G'day all, and Happy New Year.
I'm in the market for a diesel wagon, looked at VW Passat and Skoda Superb (I'm a wine merchant and need a wagon to cart around my goods) but they're both a bit too pricey for me. Lately I've taken a Ford Mondeo for a drive, very impressed. What should I expect to pay for one about two years old with up to 40,000km on the clock? Is there a bettter thread for me to post on? |

[QUOTE=Ford-Lover1991;4572369]What info are you after on an NL Fairlane Ghia ?
Hi, the low beam light headlamp stays on when everything is turned off, i changed the relays around and found the low beam relay however when changed , headlamp still on. No taillamps on just the low beam headlamp. im thinking it is either the combo switch or the orange wire that goes from the relay to the combo switch is earthed out? will be checking the combo switch this weekend. have a good one. |

Hello and thank you for your welcome.
I recently bought a 1968 ZB Fairlane 302 V8 C4 auto which has been in the same family since new. Although the car is in fairly good condition there are a few niggling problems I would like to sort out.The first is the auto column shift was very loose & sloppy it did not feel like it was going into park properly you have to jiggle it around to start the car.I decided the gear stick & linkages were worn out so I bought a B&M sports floor shifter but it appears I still have the same problem not going into park properly.Question: Is there an adjustment inside the C4 trans & could I fix it myself (I have a fare bit of mechanical knowledge) I fitted the shifter according to the instructions & adjusted the cable on the trans as per instructions. Question 2: I have noticed the diff appears to be off centre by about 15 mill I noticed this when I fitted some mag wheels & 265 tyres on the rear the left side tyre is closer to the wheel arch than the right.I checked the wheels and the backspace are the same & I also put the car on a hoist yesterday to check for crash damage but all looks fine is this normal or is there a problem? |

Love my fords.. love driving em and working on em.. Always trying to fix em up myself and learn more each time, so it's good having this place to refer to - you are a VERY useful bunch!

Hi all.
Although this is my 4th falcon I've just been a Lurker until now. I've just bought a used 2012 FG MK2 G6E EcoLPI that has bluetooth and sat nav. The G6E EcoLPI is pretty impressive after driving a 2003 BA XT. Cheers, Mick |

Hey all....
My name is Michael and I live about 3 hours west of Rockhampton. I am just in the process of buying a 2nd hand 2008 Ford Territory SY TS AWD. I am a very large bloke (read FAT !!!!) and have discovered just how roomy the Territory is inside....no more steering wheel in the guts....lol. I guess my plan is to do a few mods on the car once it arrives from Brisbane. |

Hi all
I own a 2005 Awd territory it has 118000km on the clock, i recently took it to a mechanic to find out what the knock in the rear was, they showed me what bushes needed replacing, and told me that the center diff bush should be replaced soon aswell. I replaced the two other bushes and the knock was still there. wasnt happy. So i had a good look myself and found what the problem was(simple thing) shock rubbers were gone. not happy with mechanic. I checked out the center diff bush and it is stuffed , they tell me it will be over a thousand dollars in labour. Is there an easy way for me to replace this. Hope to find out heaps of info off you all. Cheers |

Hi Everyone,
My name is Anthony....Have absolutely no car mechanical skill at all...Just found this forum while surfing the net, and as a 2010 Ford Territory SY owner purchased from new...I must therefore register......What a great site for info!! Huge shout out to all other Perth members...Love the car, had no problems at all with it.....However silly annoying sound like a whine while cruising at 80km/hr with foot on accelerator...Whine does not appear before 75km/h and gone before 85km/h....Surely not a tyre issue?....I seem to recall somewhere that someone suggested is a gear ratio/change condition..Hate to take it back to the service dept and have them slug me with BS and extra unnecessary $$$....So doing some research as to probable causes...Car has only seen city use and 1 camping trip (no offroad)...Keep up the good work |

G'day,
Stumbled on this site looking for Territory info and couldn't peel my eyes away. Lots of really good stuff here. First car was an XY, then had fords ever since recently when I had a weak moment and bought a Suburban. Just sold it and have bought a 2005 Territory, SX TX AWD fitted with an Echo Injected Gas system. Hope there are no regrets. Step 1 - Get some 20" rims, Step 2 - look at updating the ICC unit to a Dual zone climate control. Cheers Luke |

I didn't even know there were laws about which cars can tow, probably depends on your state. All I know is I've seen smaller things than that towing trailers! |

Hi all, I'm new here..
My name is Chris and I just picked up a 1999 Fairmont, an upgrade from a Toyota Celica. Quite a large change, but my partners car got written off just before Christmas, we have a ten week old baby and the Celica just wasn't going to cut it! My soon-to-be brother in-law works as a mechanic at a local Ford dealer here in Chch, NZ. He's a real Ford fan and we decided to join the club! He came with us to check out the car when we bought it which was awesome as his knowledge and me wanting not to spend too much got the price down a wee bit. Here's the car: Has some minor exterior damage: - Drivers external mirror missing scallop/cover. - Passenger external mirror has a small chunk of the black plastic surround missing. - Rear power-windows not working. - Paint/clear-coat on spoiler peeling off. - Center console hinge broken. - LCD Segments not working on the climate control/etc display. - Radio aerial hit by a bird, and bent/broken. - Several scuffs and small dents to body. - Sway-bar bushes are a bit borked, you can hear the knocking as you drive. On the plus side though, under the bonnet looks mint. Brother in-law is going to take it in to his work for a freebie-steam-clean when he gets a chance, so that'll be awesome. He also told me about pulling the window switches out/apart and cleaning up all the contacts, I pulled and cleaned them all, the master switch I found easier to take right apart / take PCB out and attack with emery paper. This fixed one of the rear windows, swapped switches and problem didn't follow the switch so I guess one rear door has a bung regulator. He also showed me a trick with silicone spray on the runners which helped the working windows go up and down a lot faster, quieter and without the sound of a straining window motor. I was already aware of the issue with the display as he had dropped a faulty unit to me in the past to see if it could be repaired, but I had no way of testing my repair job until now. Lets just say I'm quite confident I can get this working again without much hassle. Only have one key/fob at the moment, but getting another set sorted through him too. Gave the whole thing a good clean inside and out, took it for a spin and I must admit I cheered Holden on at Bathurst for many years, but I got home and couldn't stop smiling at the Ford, so I've pretty much done the same as many of the V8 Supercar drivers and swapped teams! |
