I have located the ONLY Moffat HO Falcon (based on the XR8 Sprint) that ever came to New Zealand. Immaculate and 64000k's on the clock. Supercharged V8. Who can tell me more about this model - number produced, value etc??

Are you talking about your car in the pic?
It hasnt got a Moffat HO kit on it, its an EBGT kit. Doesnt mean it hasnt got the other HO bits but. What do you want to know?

No. The car in the pic is my XR8 Sprint.
I haven't been able to find out anything about the Moffat falcons....hence my original post. The Moffat car that I have located has the correct badging, kit, it's one owner (cost him over NZ$100,000), and I can guarantee its the real article. Oh, and its painted blue. |

Try a search on some Australian car sales websites for prices. Off the top of my head they seem to go for a bit under a GT. So you would be looking at $15-25k.
Have you tried a search of this forum? Should be something.

No not quite, although I do have a poster of that car.
AM cars where mainly S/C'd V8s, I think there was a few S/C'd I6's. They look awesome, and would go like stink if a few mods. IIRC there was even a wagon. Im quite surprised there isn't one on this site.

They weren't all s/c though, a mate's dad used to have one which was based on a V8 Fairmont Ghia. Contact Phase Autos (they are still around doing bodykits) as they are probably the best bet to find out build numbers etc.

Hi
I just spotted this thread .I am a new forum member The car you ask about is one of 7 built by phase autos as Moffat signature .They were supercharged. The one in NZ was purchased from Timaru Motors in May 1994 and is the only one of the 7 that started out as a sprint. The value is (like all special cars ) what someone is prepared to pay for it.The first owner has owned it since new. Until yesterday! |

i actually have an old Car Australia mag with them testing one against a Corsa Commodore.
Specs for the AMHO were published as; $59,300 215kW/4500rpm 440Nm/4500rpm 1630 kg 15.072 1320ft @ 148.64 km/h Cars were built by Bob McWilliam, with Phase Autos using the Alan Moffat name. Bob states the engine covers weren't even lifted to produce the 50 kW powergain, simply bolt on the vortech supercharger. He even goes on to say the engine management and exhaust remains as standard. |

The NZ ED HO is a cobalt blue sprint with supercharger and is a signature car. The rest were ghias or base xr8's,it is supposedly 270kw (original purchaser dynoed it) and is far from standard with regards to exhaust ,ignition etc (all added at Phase Auto's).
It has travelled 64000km with no problems with the exception of occasionally throwing the blower belt off. |

My father-in-law owns one. I've no idea what production numbers were, and have heard everything from 12 to 50. My info is that they were all based on an ED XR8 (but nothing like one), all were cobalt blue, and according to my father-in-law had 245Kw at the engine, though info is scarce. The one he has is manual (no idea if there were ever any autos...not that you'd want one), and is yet to hit 90,000 kilometres. I tried to raise some interest on here a few years ago, when he asked me to sell it for him, but never got a knibble. He offered it to me a while back, and mentioned it again at a family funeral a few weeks ago, but I don't have $15 - $20 thousand. This is not my father-in-law's car, but is the same. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...offat1bm9.jpg/

Tick option boxes and come up with something. My pick would be an optioned Sprint with everything, lol!

It was the first vehicle completed and was based on the auto V8 Fairmont Ghia although it wears the quad front end. I also have an article of 2 HO ED based cars in a test with a new VR Senator (Blue Fairmont and maroon GLi, the blue one is the first car mentioned already). The Supercharged V8 had estimated 230kw/ 440Nm and the supercharged 4 litre 177kw/ 380Nm. It states in the release that the Allan Moffat Signature HO is based on any new car from GLi to Fairmont ghia. You can mix and match the options but the ONLY way to gain the signature is to opt for the entire kit ($16000) which is Body kit, wheels, supercharger, Recaro seats, Momo wheel, roof trim tab, "A" pillar aero panel and heavy duty clutch for the manual |

Surely the painted overflow tank and braided lines weren't factory!? Asking that much for a 94 car, regardless of rarity, a detail and non potato camera would return interest.
