As someone who grew up on Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Reanimation - to name but a few - I was shattered this morning to hear in the news about the suicide of Chester Bennington.
http://www.news.com.au/entertainment...480aca0b34ae94 I think if nothing else, it's a good enough reminder that it's not weak to say that you're not okay.

wow
one of my favourite bands growing up. regarding suicide, i beleive to someone who is so determined & has gone through all the processes to carry out something so brutal & tortuturous to themselves..... theres not much can be done by way of sitting down with a shrink and talking about it. |

Chester sang at Chris's funeral, and i think it was Chris Cornell's birthday today.
Got 3 or 4 of their CD's in my collection, sad day for rock'n'roll.

I woke up to this news and am bloody devastated... For my close friends and I, LP was a big part of my 20's... From working on cars, cruising or just hanging out LP was never far away... So many of my good memories of a simpler time involve LP...
Such a loss to the music world, as well as his friends and family...

Never got Linkin Park but as a fan of STP, I followed with interest his position as replacement for Scott Weiand. In both cases, they left young children without a father and an uncertain future. Chester has 5 children. Say what you like, his a selfish person leaving his wife and kids no matter how sick he was.

I feel for his family and I feel for the person who had to find him that way.
Now if you've reached the point where you want to take your own life, fine, if you honestly feel that's what you need to do then go. But bloody hell why do it via hanging?? Some poor person who will never be the same again has to find you that way and what happens to the human body when it's done that way is horrendous. Do what the others do, do grab some pills and alcohol and go to sleep in your own vomit. I'll never forget reading the story of a man who hung himself in his garage in the western suburbs of Melbourne and his wife and 12 year old daughter found him. At that point I didn't give a stuff about him, only his wife and that poor little girl who has lost her dad and through no fault of her own will be traumatised beyond belief. Reading back on this I sound like an *** but that's just the way I honestly feel about it. |

it was written about his First Wife, and how she was happier without him. I agree about leaving the Kids behind part, it does seem selfish looking in from the outside but these guys really do get into a state of depression where they believe the world is better of without them. sad stuff.

Might be some truth in your self-assessment at the end. Seriously people, keep your assessments on the actions of people that suicide to yourselves. You are not qualified to judge them if you have not walked in their shoes. Suicide is not the easy way out, the road to that point is a long and painful one. Some are lucky they walk that painful road and never reach the end, they survive. Some, unfortunately, do not have the strength and they reach the end of the road. Quote:

An article written about Chester. I hope it is true and some good does come out of his tragic death. I am a member of the site Male Survivor that was mentioned in the article, Chester's death has hit other survivors of child sexual abuse pretty hard.

Linkin Park has four albums in the Aus top ten at the moment, lucky enough to see them at Rod Laver a few years ago, brilliant band.

Just because I don't pour my heart out on a public forum, do not assume I haven't experienced depression. I am nearly 50 and it's a very safe bet my life has had a lot more insanity than yours. Be careful what you assume about people based on one or two sentences. It is the No 1 reason all the drama starts on social media, but then again, that is the objective for many contributors which says a lot about their mental health.
