I think you will find these are just aftermarket kits bumping up the power.

So not really any different to herrods or kpm modifying Falcons all these years.

The picture on the front of Wheels is of a Shelby GT350R but is NOT the car coming. Its not supercharged for one so contradicts what is written on the cover compared to image.
I expect the announcement will be upgrades being available for the GT through Ford Performance or Roush etc and be supplied with warranties. This will be to the Mustang what Walkinsure is to Commodores.

Who is installing the supercharger? Ford doesn't offer a supercharged S550 in the US yet.

If its the Mustang that will be modified post delivery then i am expecting they will be closer to $100k than $75k.
A friend whom has a HSV Commodore had a quote from Walkinsure @ Dandenong for a exhaust, suspension, brake upgrade and Supercharger , etc and there wasnt much change out of $40k.
So the Mustang GT at mid $60's plus the upgrade you would have to think its going to be close to $100k.
How much will the the factory Shelby 350R land in Aust if it was available?
I am thinking if the GT in the US is around $40k and mid $60's here then it stands to reason if the 350R is $60k in the US then it should be around $100k here. But reason is contradicted by the earlier comments . I am thinking the 350R is a better car thsn a GT with a aftermarket performance package?

They have the Ford Racing/Roush kits available as dealer fit. From memory it's around 8k $US.

Everyone stop thinking that we are getting the GT350 we're not !

Wheels have sucked everyone into thinking we're getting something OEM. What we're getting is the ability to get stuff bolted onto GT Mustangs to make them go faster / louder and handle better.

That is what Mustang Motorsport are offering atm as iirc they are now an official Shelby workshop. Your GT Mustang & about $98 grand will get you an official Shelby Supersnake!
One hell of a motor car but at about $160,000.

Actually pretty good value when 5 years ago a Super Snake in Australia would have set you back circa $250K..........

Had the pleasure of doing the Shelby Factory tour in Vegas last week & it was outstanding. You dead set walk out of there trying to work out what you need to do to have a Supersnake in your garage & $160 grand is a lot of coin, but it is one hell of a car!!

I notice that the price in general for most (older) Mustangs hardly drops in Australia? So would probably be worth the upfront cost..

Was speaking to a bloke at national mustang concourse at easter on the gold coast , he had just bought new mustang and was getting a 750hp Rousch supercharged kit fitted to it . All up total cost was about $80k , and this came with 3 or 5 year warranty.

Out for a ride through Mt Dandenong this morning and I was passed by a 67 Eleanor GT500 Mustang . When you are out riding , you get an enormous time to think and it's when I asked myself "self , would you part with real money to own a Eleanor GT500?". Yes please ..
So then I started to ask why? . Was it due to the status , performance , resale, it's because any sane man wants one or historical significance created by many factors ?
It's funny but performance never got a mention this morning , it seems it was a result of all the other factors that drove me to say yes . The performance was simple a big bonus .
So then , I asked , would I pay $ for a new Mustang and then add another $ to make it perform ?
My (***again mine***) reply was no...
Am I the only ******* who would rather have the limited edition (new or old) stuff ahead of a new car + new performance . Am I the only one thinking wrong ..
I am out on the bike again in the morning , and I shall be revisiting those very important questions .

When you say Eleanor GT500 do you mean one of the original '67 GT500's or the GT500E's that Unique Performance were building from old Mustangs with new Shelby VIN tags, based on the film car?

Gee . I am not confident enough to say .. But I do know , it looked identical to the one in the 2000 file Gone in 60 Seconds .. I recall the plates EL 500 . So I would only be guessing in saying it's 67 GT500 fastback as in the film

Typical Wheels cover.

-GT350 isn't supercharged
-No (as far as i know) factory supercharged mustangs will be available, TT V8 perhaps.
-We are not getting the GT350 anyway.

Article is about Herrod installing Ford Performance superchargers on Mustangs, something that was a shoe in, and all but confirmed anyway.

Wheels just couldn't put the Falcon on the cover and make it about the sprint, could they?

I just read them in Coles in the magazine row while the wife does the shopping.

This.

I'm reading the magazine in question right now and it is a Herrod supercharger install, along with a few other bits and pieces.

When you say all up cost was 80k, was that for just the kit, or car and kit?
