Wow, this sucks.
Another one gone.
I never did go and see The Eagles, almost bought tix for the last tour but decided to catch them next time......

I have a doco at home (maybe called The Eagles Story??) that I recommend for anyone even slightly interested in the band. No doubt they were a talented bunch. Those vocal harmonies!

I am absolutely shocked.
I remembered that he was crook and needed a fairly big operation after their tour finished - so much so that Don Henley said they wouldn't be making plans until afterwards. Fortunately I was at their last ever Aussie concert in Brisbane and they were still absolutely brilliant.
I have every Eagles album and play them regularly - my equal best, favourite band ever.
Such a talented musician who brought joy to many millions of people throughout the world.

RIP Glenn Frey

For some of us older members this past few weeks has shown us our youth is slipping away at a rate of knots.

RIP - his vocals formed a great part of a great 70's band.

Don Henley's full statement:

Quote:
"he was like a brother to me; we were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But, the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken, even during the 14 years that the eagles were dissolved.

We were two young men who made the pilgrimage to los angeles with the same dream: To make our mark in the music industry -- and with perseverance, a deep love of music, our alliance with other great musicians and our manager, irving azoff, we built something that has lasted longer than anyone could have dreamed.

But, glenn was the one who started it all. He was the spark plug, the man with the plan. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of popular music and a work ethic that wouldn't quit. He was funny, bullheaded, mercurial, generous, deeply talented and driven.

He loved is wife and kids more than anything. We are all in a state of shock, disbelief and profound sorrow.

We brought our two-year 'history of the eagles tour' to a triumphant close at the end of july and now he is gone. I'm not sure i believe in fate, but i know that crossing paths with glenn lewis frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet.

It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, i will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some."

Way too young. Terrible news, major Eagles fan here. Listening to the Hotel California album for the first time at age 14 just blew my mind. Been a fan ever since and so glad I saw them in concert last year.

Glenn Frey was just an amazingly talented guy and responsible for what I reckon are the best lyrics ever in a song......

It's a girl my lord
In a flat bed Ford
Slowing down to take a look at me.......

Take it easy........ Great motto in life.

Very sad. End of an era of great music, real music. Now we're stuck with untalented trash like Justin Bieber, ****** Bull,Miley Cyrus and RAP (******* attempting poetry) music...

Watched the History of The Eagles doco last night, for the umpteenth time.

Pretty much the best music doco I have seen. Recommended viewing especially for those who are not that familiar with the band.

Just illustrates what a major loss Glenn Frey is to the music industry.
