Default $200 test drive challenge

just been given this link. First Ford ad in a long time that I think really works.

Love it, great way to try and win some buyers from Toyota. Something like this would have been great to market the Falcon in the past...

With the new hilux not expected/rumoured to hit the show room until late 2015 early 2016 it's a pretty safe bet. Not to mention you'll more then likely have to jump through a few hoops of fire to see that $200 check.

Is it going to be like Budget Insurance? Pay less or get $100?

They quoted me $3500 and I didn't see the $100.

Agreed, she's very tidy

This is the sort of marketing that should have been in place c.2008 when FG was released.

This is great marketing. Supply must clearly be better now?

This is exactly would they should have done with Ecoboost Falcon. But that is history now!!

Main problem with this $200 deal is you have to buy a Hilux.
We have a 2012 dual cab diesel an work and it doesn't even feel like it's in the same class as the Ranger.
They may be reliable, but I can't see anything else going for the lux.

Sorry but the new lux is far from reliable. Out of all the trucks we service they are the worst, mainly with fuel system issues

They are trying to get as many lux's out the door as they can at the moment because the new shape is coming for i think 2015.
My mate just picked up a 2014 sr5 dual cab for 52k drive away. They were 63k a couple of years ago.
The Hilux has alot going for it. More than what Ford & Holden anyway.

You can get an XLT Ranger for low 50s on the road. I know which I would choose.

Parts availability and local knowledge would be the big thing why companies keep using these pieces of crap.

And here in NZ Fleets like Department of Conservation, Meridian Energy etc use them as they are what the lease companies buy.

Hilux has literally nothing going for it besides fleet sales.

Drive it and the Ranger back to back and you'll wonder why Toyota are still selling an asthmatic tractor as a 4wd.

We bought a new 2013 plated Kuga on Saturday with the 2.99% finance which ended Sunday, we take delivery this Thursday, I wonder if we could get another $500 off if we go for a "Test drive" aswell, the conditions just say "take delivery in September/October. And the finance deal was valid if "approved" in august.

So they are same price as the XLT Ranger.
I just had a look at a 2014 SR5 spec list and it is very similar to a Ranger XLT.
But the XLT still has the lead on standard features I believe.
The Ranger also has a more powerful and quieter engine. An extra ratio on the auto gearbox which gives it a little bit better fuel economy(quoted figures). Can tow a tonne more, rides better and has much better feeling in steering.

I have nothing against them, but I honestly would love to know what is so good about the Hilux. My mate has a workmate, petrol 4cyl and thinks it's God's gift to the world. Am I just missing something about them?

Hilux does have a great aftermarket support and good resale.
Genuine parts are decently priced also, we had one with a broken brake line. Part only cost $8, the brake fluid cost more...

They should have done this years ago, half the battle is getting a potential customer in to actually drive the car and see how good it is.

The diesels still have injectors detonating engines....
Problem has been around since 120 Prados and they still haven't fixed it..
At 13k for a short block its not a cheap fix for something really common.

THIS, trying to explain to some people they just need to get in the car and drive it! Brand loyalty/blindness is a *****!

Looks like the the challenge applies to the Ford Focus as well:

$200 says you’ll prefer a Ford. Take the Test Drive Challenge

Great ads. Everyone i know who has a Lux and jumps in my PX Ranger never mentions "who good they think their" Lux is - in fact, when i put boot into it..they all comment.

It is solid marketing and when you have something to swing - i say swing em for all its worth!

I've had a steer of a couple of current model
Lux's, auto and manual. Call me biased but they have nothing on a Px. Less grunt, more noise, less comfort and standard features.

PX Ranger is Australian Designed ? No surprises that it outdoes the Hilux, just like the Falcon outdoes the Camry/Aurion in nearly every area. Pity they couldn't build it here.
