Mates, just a quick question.
My young son lives in Glenroy, Melbourne. He drives a Daihatsu Charade and wants to get is serviced. Lube and more importantly, a safety check. Any suggestions of a reliable Mechanic or shop not too far off very much appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks marty351,
I checked out Ashford Automotive Repairs via Google. They have a handful of positive comments. I passed on the good news to my Son. Sounds like he has a grabbing clutch, not sure of the Charade setup, but I assume it is a cable and maybe needs adjusting. We shall see. I'll let you know. Son (student) has a few dollars for the service, but I've got no prob if important stuff needs fixing. Madaya

He's booked in for tomorrow (Friday). Son rang them to make the appointment and he said they sounded great over the phone.
Shame I'm not there to do the work myself or speak to the mechanic. I love getting down and dirty with cars. Will let you know the outcome. Bottom line, I want sons little ride to be safe and reliable.

I'm near there myself and awaiting the outcome of his service, as I might need a little work done soon myself.
Keen to know the cost, whether reasonable, cheap or expensive. GK

Goodyear tyre and Auto Glenroy.
I used to take my BF turbo there for servicing when I lived in Glenroy. I found the owner Ozzy to be honest, reliable and reasonably priced. |

"Err Dad, I drove past Ashford Mechanics and they seemed to be full of cars, really busy, so I went to a Goodyear place nearby". I told my Son, "that's a good sign, a busy place means folk like their business, besides, you where booked in". Ah well, no prob. He gave me the Goodyear number and I spoke to Ozzy. Sounded like a good pro. He went through the results of his inspection. Plugs, fan (may have been drive) belt, wiper blades (standard), tune, drivers side indicator, air filter and lube. Also mentioned two new front tyres and a left side outer CV boot, plus exhaust could do with some work. I told him to do the engine bits, also check the clutch. I will ride my Son's *** (which is difficult from 3000+kms) to make sure he gets the tyres and boot done asap. He needed the car that weekend, and to do the extra bits, they would have had to keep the car till Monday. Report from Son is that the car feels great. Report from me is the Goodyear lads seem to have done a good job. Thanks Ozzy and crew. Shame I'm not there with my spanners. I could probably do all the jobs for about $150 + $150 for new tyres. All the red type came to about $290. I'm happy.
