Default OE Replacements

I've not been particularly happy with the OE dampers on the FGII EcoLPi XR6 - most of my daily commute is on fairly ordinary roads and the front and rear ends didn't feel particularly well in synch with each other and the car has been generally floaty and inconsistent in handling. Could excuse both of those if it had a nice ride but it was easily upset by low amplitude bumps and really only liked mirror smooth surfaces - which Victoria is notoriously short of!

After a couple of chats with Brett at Shockworks, Chris and he kindly fitted a set of their OE replacement dampers today and they have quite seriously transformed both the ride and handling of the car.

The two ends now feel like they are on the same page and while the ride is a little firmer it is also much better controlled and certainly nowhere near anything that could be called even vaguely harsh even on corrugated gravel surfaces.

It's always interesting to meet and talk to people who know their stuff the way these guys do and while I'm happy to profess I understood only a small percentage of what was said it is clear that their commitment to testing and researching for solutions sets them apart.

I'll provide more of an update after I've run a couple of thousand on them but I'd certainly recommend these to anyone looking for improved ride and handling without going the whole adjustable coil-over route.

Cheers
Russ

Thanks. They have certainly sharpened up the handling significantly and I am pleased with the results. They can be a little harsh on some of our larger corrugations but the guys are going to try a small change next time I am out that way.

Cheers
Russ

Yeah had a brief chat with Brett today and he was very helpful, even though they aren't adjustable they should work well with the ride hight I'm after so will be getting a set when I get my tax back.

Plus I like the idea of supporting local companies wherever possible and actually having them local is even better.
