I am involved with the automotive industry & live in SA. I'm worried about Holden closing down, but I also do not want to see valuable Tax dollars thrown at a company, and no guaranteed return on the investment - remember what happened with Mitsubishi receiving Tax dollars from State and Federal governments and then closing the doors soon after? SA got through it.

I refuse to sign a petition that is basically trying to force a government to hand over a blank check to produce cars that they may not be able to sell.

Instead I went out and took a gamble with my own money and purchased a VF SS-V ute (delivery on Saturday). Now I just need the governments to concentrate on keeping our economy growing, so that my business can stay profitable and pay the bills for the Ute :-)

Hopefully more people will go out an buy a Holden Sedan or Ute, 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. The VF is a great car, I would never have touched a Commodore before, Holden have finally built a decent car that people will find quite amazing to sit in and drive. The Cruze isn't bad either.

Please be advised, the reports in the media as of late regarding the future of Holden's manufacturing is media speculation, on which we are unable to comment.

Holden set out a 10-year manufacturing plan that was agreed with the Australian Government in 2012, based on the economic and market conditions at that time. That plan would see Holden invest a billion dollars in Australia and secure production of two all-new global vehicles out to 2022.

Holden is constantly working closely with the Australian and State Governments to ensure the viability of the industry in the face of the historically significant economic challenges facing the country at the moment. Holden has recently made its submission to the Productivity Commission and our discussions with the Government are ongoing.
