I was thinking the same thing, and was going to quote the same. Depends on how you read and interpret it. Car played up, and caused the owner to pop the bonnet and investigate, then finding that things weren't done at service time.

The lack of a service perhaps didn't cause the issue, but was found by accident while trying to find why car was playing up.

I'm with you buddy. How dare a customer complain about paying premium price for a scheduled service and have them expect that the oil and filter be changed! The audacity! It's reprehensible, I tell you.
