Default More Ford job losses.

A mate just called to say his department will be cutting heads. These were previously seen as "safe" positions and are directly because of future model line up cuts.

Cant be too specific, but I can say that they work on global and local projects. So its a bit of this and a bit of that. I can say from talking to him that things are not good and he and others are taking it hard, lots of committed people feeling very worthless at the moment.

Hope everything works out for your mate - would be interesting to hear more about it, but I guess we will find out in time.

Join the club, just about all Ford workers have felt worthless over the last 3 years. The place has gone so downhill its not funny. Used to be a good place to work, now its just a joke.

HP are letting 24,600 IT staff go over three years, not much news about that.
No job is safe.

The only model thats truely global is the T6/Ranger program. But that got started up in 2006.

Well, not on a car forum.

Plenty of news in relevant IT publications, though.

Big cuts have been made to the T6 to get the cost down, plus local problems/ revisions and a few other overseas model cuts.

I bet won't be much on the TV or newspaper either in comparison to manufacturing.
Maybe not as relevant?

i think its just as relevant, however there are far more job losses in Automotive/manufacturing at the moment then IT (although with current events taking place maybe we need to wait and see as this may change)

HP is global, this issue is local which means it will get more exposure.

I am sure someone in power will organize a summit to look into these issues over a smoked salmon sandwich and a glass of lemonade.
