i wish i could get a monaro :( my favourite holdens ever built...i've driven a few and they werent doughy down low, with the trac off it would take off chattering sideways...was a silver one with the 19inch gts rims and lowered...never wanted to get outta it...

as for the guy selling his 2000(last of VT2 or early vx?) calais for 13k, thats a bit pricey mate, i looked at a 2002 calais international(V8) with leather sunroof etc...for 13k with only 55ks on it...was meticulously looked after by a fanatic, had beautiful creme leather interior...reason why i didnt buy it was bcos of insurance premium...

Had the car inspected on tuesday and took it for a test drive.Couple of little things but nothing major, diff bush, front bushes, hole in muffler, couple of tyres for rego, wheels been gutter scraped, wear and hole in the purple leather drivers seat, inspector who inspected the car for me told me he knew a guy would could repair it so i would not notice it.The inspector was very good and i would recommend him he was an ex nrma inspector as nrma dont do inspections anymore for those that did not know.I do most of my own mechanical and panel work but bought him along for another set of eyes(well worth the $180).There is also an average paint repsray on the side from a minor scracth which i remember seeing on it a year or so ago.while the car is not perfect it drove very well and was mechanically almost perfect apart from bushes. It runs out of rego in two weeks and when I spoke to the owner yesterday he asked me how the inspection went as he had been away and I told him that there was only a couple of minor things for rego otherwise it was good,he said he did not relise it ran out in two weeks and said he could'nt give me the car with no rego and said he'll take $500 off for rego,so we agreed on $19,500 and i should pick it up on wednesday.I'llpost some pics when I get it.

Cangrats Dave, good purchase there. You should be happy with it especially with amount of after market goodies you can get. A few minor mods and it will hammer quite hard.

Its only a car.

If you want one buy it.

If in 3 years you want something else do that.

As long as you enjoy it thats all that matters, not what other people think.

an 03= VY SII 25K+ being a munro add 10K atleast.
with just 70K it has still got 90K worth of warranty, and don't count the year's as it doesn't apply.

Are you sure it still has warranty .you would think that there must be some time limit on this.I was unaware of this, can anybody else verify this?

thanks phil.I guess i'll have to start looking through some holden mags now.I need to get a few things repaired first then i'll look into some aftermarket stuff.I would like it to sound a bit better as it sounds a bit soft for what one would expect.

I will definately look into this on monday but find it hard to believe.its nov 03 build date so its less than five years old but think its a series 2 not series 3 as the guy who inspected it told me on the compliance plate the series 2 says LS1 but the series 3 has a dash after the ls1 as in LS1-.Mine just says LS1 on the compliance plate.I would not have known this without his knowledge as from my brief investigation prior to inspection believed the series 3 came out in september 03 and would have asumed this to be a series 3 from the build date.

best to look at the windscreen tag on the low side this is all you will need
to check every thing from previous ownerer's to present and full history.

You've got all wrong.
VY SII got 235kw (you got that right)
VY SIII got 245kw (thanks to an exhaust change)
VZ got 260kw (thanks to a bigger, electronic throttle body, revised cam spec & a new exhaust system).

If it suites then enjoy it , we couldn't buy a new ford v8 wagon with gas conversion , we know have a commodore doing excellent service , I have always prefered the oval but if the car suites then grab it with both hands .
