A few days ago, the Volcano Group (Vulkangruppe) sabotage power supply to Tesla's Berlin Gigafactory. Looking at a few of the pictures posted on the internet, they did so by setting fire to the underground cables on a terminal pole, where the powerlines transition from overhead to underground. When the fire burnt through the outer insulation, the cables failed. Taking power supply out to the Tesla Factory, a local hospital (halting medical procedures), supermarket, and quite a few thousand local residents.
So, why this mindless sabotage? A difficult question to answer given the anarchist mindset of certain Green extremists. But apparently it was in protest about Tesla proposed plans to expand their factory (and resume some new growth forest), Tesla's water consumption, and unproven complaints that Tesla's factory is contaminating the local water supply. There is an unaligned protest group camped out in the nearby forest to "prevent" Tesla expanding. Apparently, we cannot have an SUV. Nor can we have any ICE. And now, we cannot even have an electric vehicle. Go figure. Full news article from DW here ... https://www.dw.com/en/germany-sabota...ers/a-68467844 |
