I’ve wondered about that since I heard the rumours. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to stop flogging the GT, if they are going to fit the (expensive) S/C engine to the XR8.
Assuming the new Mustang will arrive here with some form of V8, maybe what we will see is a precursor, a basic Mustang V8 “crate engine” dropped into the XR8.

Of course the cynic in me wonders if this ins’t just a way for Ford to yank our chains and part us from our coin? They have the big “Last of the FPV GT’s” in 2014, where everybody scambles to pay full sticker for a “limited” car. Then they roll out the same thing as an XR8, and repeat the process two years later?

Given that the beanies are now well and truly in control, its possible that they simply want to save on the marketing costs of having two brands?
