I have learnt with merging, it is really a bluffing game. Drivers are now so inconsiderate that they won't give people room to merge.
I have heard it's law somewhere overseas (England maybe?) that you have to give way to merging traffic on freeways. Can anyone confirm that?

When im approaching a merging lane on ramp on a freeway i generally, when clear or safe, just move into the right lane to give them space to merge safely if i think there will be an "overlap"... as long as the merging traffic is trying to synchronize with the flow of the traffic speed wise its just common courtesy..
