About 9,000 Holden VE Commodores have been recalled because of a potential problem with the side airbag in the driver's seat. Holden says there is a possibility the airbag in the Adelaide-built cars could come away from the seat frame and go off when the car has stopped and the driver is getting out. The company's spokeswoman, Kate Lonsdale, says there is also a possibility the airbag will lose its effectiveness in a crash. She says not all the cars will be affected and the recall is just a precaution at this stage. "Letters will be sent to customers who may own one of these models and they should be receiving those letters today," she said. "A public advertisement has also gone out and we have a customer centre hotline that people can call if they want to question if their car is affected." |
