Default Comprehensive insurance on my ex Taxi AU TURBO

Hi Folks,

I was with my insurer the other day discussing different policies and other such things. I asked him about insurance on my XR6 Turbo (keep in mind I am 30 and have no real car insurance history, and 0% no claim bonus) he offered full comprehensive for $530 per annum with a $500 excess. I am changing over to this.

I am currently paying a fleet rate of $800 per annum with a $750 excess.

Not expecting much and more out of curiosity I asked him to quote me for comprehensive insurance on the TURBOTAXI - for those that dont know its an ex taxi AU with Turbo, front mount cooler and LPG etc.. The car is engineered so its all on the RTA system. I was totally open about the modifications to the car.

I have had two speeding fines in the last 12 months. I have a colourful driving history too.

I said I wanted agreed value of $6000, full comprehensive cover, opportunity to buy wreck in the event of a write off.

So he rings me today and he apologises and says he has to charge more because of the modifications - so I was thinking $1500 or something.

The end cost was $560 per annum. I was pretty pleased with this as this means if the taxi hits a roo it gets fixed properly.

I thought I would share this as insurance for modded cars is often put in the too hard basket - I know I have not even asked about insurance since I put the turbo in it.

So now I have my two turbo falcs insures for about $250 more than it was costing for one.

Cool
