RHD Mustang came about as part of the overarching "One Ford" business plan rather than an individual business plan for the Mustang. Get rid of all those unique platforms (such as Falcon) means massive cost savings and better ROI on the R&D for the remaining platforms.
Weather Ford makes a profit on the RHD development cost is open for debate but there's no doubt, the Mustang is putting Fords name in front of our faces which is free, positive marketing for them and I'm sure the dealers selling them are quite happy.
