Default Re: synthetic oils

Don't know about the 5W-30 Penrite but I've been using the Penrite Enviro 5W-40 synthetic in my diesel Mercedes for the last 20,000 km's or so and it seems to be running very well indeed. I change the Merc's oil every 5,000 km's, its disgustingly black by then, but that's diesel engines for ya.

The new SRT8 runs full synthetic Mobil 1 0W-40. I was chatting to my mechanic the other day about synthetic oils and he reminded me that they're much better at handling high heat level's than conventional oils.
