Default Instructions for those with difficulty logging in

Since the recent upgrade to the forum a number of user have had difficulty maintaining a login - effectively after logging in they are returned straight to the login page.

Without going into the long details this is caused by the upgraded version treating cookies differently and thus the old ones became invalid.

Below are instructions for each browse to delete the old cookies and get a new one.

INDIVIDUAL COOKIES ONLY

Note: Some of the instructions in the all cookies section below, also cover individual or selective deletion.


Internet Explorer
(most versions except IE9)
  1. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet files, click Settings, and then click View Files.
  3. Select the files (cookies) that you want to delete.
  4. On the File menu, click Delete.

Firefox

To delete cookies for one site:
  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options
  2. Select the Privacy panel.
  3. Set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history.
  4. Click Show Cookies.... The Cookies window will appear.
  5. In the Search: field, type the name of the site whose cookies you want to remove. The cookies that match your search will be displayed.
  6. Select the cookie(s) in the list to remove and click Remove Cookie.

Opera

Click on Manage cookies to delete specific cookies or cookies from specific domains.


Safari

Choose Preferences from Safari menu
Select Security icon
Press Show Cookies button
Select the Cookies to be deleted from the list
Press Delete button


DELETE ALL COOKIES

Internet Explorer 9

To delete cookies
  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button , point to Safety, and then click Delete browsing history.
  3. Select the Cookies check box, and then click Delete.
  4. Make sure that 'Preserve Favourites' box ix not ticked.
Internet Explorer 8 (and most other versions)
  1. Open your browser and go to Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Under the General tab, find the Browsing History section. From here, you can decide whether to delete some or all cookies:
  3. To delete all cookies, click uncheck the Preserve Favorite Website Data box, check the box next to Cookies, and hit Delete.
  4. To selectively delete cookies, go to Settings > View Files. Select the cookies you wish to delete (hold down CTRL while clicking to make multiple selections) and press Delete.

Firefox

To delete all cookies stored on your computer:
  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button, go over to the History menu (click on the Tools menu in Windows XP) and select Clear Recent History....
  2. Set Time range to clear to Everything.
  3. Click on the arrow next to Details to expand the list of history items.
  4. Select Cookies and make sure that other items you want to keep are not selected.
  5. Click Clear Now to clear the cookies and close the Clear Recent History window.

Google Chrome

-settings
-advanced settings
-content settings
-all cookies and site data
-remove all


Safari 5 (quick method)1
  1. Open your browser and go to the menu labelled Safari.
  2. Select the sub-menu Preferences.
  3. Select the Privacy tab at the top of the window.
  4. Under Cookies and Other Website data, select the Details button
  5. Remove desired cookies. Either remove select cookies or click Remove All.


Konqueror (if anyone still uses it)


  1. Open your browser and go to Settings menu > Configure Konqueror.
  2. Scroll down and select Cookies.
  3. Click the Management tab.
  4. Delete your cookies. Either click Delete All to delete all cookies or select the cookies you wish to delete (hold down CTRL while clicking to make multiple selections) and click Delete.

TELEPHONES

Android Phones (some may be different)
For those trying to clear cookies on Android phones:

Step 1
Start up the Android web browser.



Step 2
Push the “Menu” on the phone to bring up the options for the web browser.



Step 3
Select the “More” options in the lower right hand corner.




Step 4
The “More” option has a lot of features. The one you want is the “Settings” function. Select that option.



Step 5
In the next screen you will see all of the settings for the browser. Scroll down until you find the one that says “Clear all cookie data”. Select that option.




Step 6

You phone will now ask if you really want to clear all of the cookie data. Just select “OK” and all of the internet cookies will be deleted.


Mobile Safari (iPhone, iPad etc.)

  1. Go to to Settings > Safari.
  2. Scroll down and tap Clear Cookies and Data.
  3. Tap Clear Cookies and Data to confirm.
