Bring old cars on trailers

Just wondered how else you'd find a mate to be able to bring cars on trailers and tow them and fix them or get others going with parts cars and have someone to do it all with.

Wondering because a few people you know recently brought another parts car home to fix another with and want to do same. How would you go finding storage and work place as cheap as possible.

How do you go about getting chance to tow old cars when yours at moment isn't good enough to tow much because of needing some repairs which you can't afford to do all at once.

How do you deal with it all if your good car needs work and you can only afford one repair at a time.

Finding the mate with car trailer, tow car and time/skills to help fix your fleet can be hard - other than asking all your mates and reletives, places like this forum is probably a good start, could also try anywhere blokes socialise like footy clubs and pubs and see how you go.

Re fixing up your car:

1. You prioritise the repairs (most urgent first)
2. You save for the parts (and labour if unable to do it yourself).
3. You work your way through it all as time and money permits.

Sometimes you can do well by getting a donor car if you need to do lots of repairs...take what you need then onsell the rest - it can work out cheap in the long run or even profitable.

BUT...sometimes you are better off just buying the parts you need:

• Buying a whole donor car will generally be more expensive than buying the few parts you need.
• You end up with a lot of money tied up in the donor car until you can part it all out or onsell/scrap what remains when you have taken what you need.
• You end up having to deal with Gumtree wombles and flat-brimmers if you decide to part it out
• It can take up a lot of space (which it sounds like you don't have) and make your yard look like crap
• It can really **** off the Mrs - like REALLY **** her off - they don't see car parts as suitable centre ornaments for dining tables.

How would you go about using another car to tow if yours isn't fixed enough or can't afford all repairs at once.

Also want to ask know someone with a hyundai terracan 01 model with 130000km and it's smoother than the particular ef fairmont with 310,000km. What would explain why.

Would've thought a car ages in time too with seals wearing out over time meaning a older low km car is same as young high km car because of rubber wearing too.

Other than the head gasket and a few things the particular fairmont goes ok

Usually the e series are great cars. Some have done 350,000-400,000km or even more and they're so much smoother. What would explain the reason. Might it just be luck on original parts or owners can afford all repairs at once.

Is your Fairmont vibrating?

Can any family help with providing a car capable of towing? Car trailers are pretty heavy.

What it means is the particular fairmont is good otherwise just needs a few things done.

What would be reason why a 01 model terracan with 130,000km be better than a 300,000 km fairmont though there some fairmont that done the same if not more and they're better, what would explain reason? Lucky on original parts or had them replaced or owners afford more at a time.

Wouldn't have thought a 01 terracan would be as good as a new car even low km as rubber and parts wear out in time as well.

Would a 06 santa fe be capable of dragging car trailers

Santa fe can tow 2000kg. What car are you thinking of towing?

Mate, I'm sorry if this comes across as rude. But what the **** is wrong with your car that you start so many threads about it? You ask how to make friends and find birds and all that jazz. It's frustrating to read because it's always about how your car prevents you from traveling to the larger areas to find people your own age etc etc. So how about you actually tell us what's wrong, we'll help you fix it and you can stop posting threads like this. As for the friend and trailer you'd be probably better trying to offer someone beer or cash on a local buy swap and sell page to move a car for you. If you want to fix something on it, get a manual and/or watch YouTube and work it out. Don't expect to meet someone then have them around being best buddies and fix your car for free for you. If you do find someone to come round make sure offer them refreshments etc but you'll struggle to find someone that's prepared to do so in this day and age. Again, I don't mean to be rude but it's got to be said mate.

Usually thats the case. As cars age they require more maintaining.
Most people want their cars to go from a to b and once they start to age they move them on instead of fixing them.
