Default So where's the Falcon replacement?

Falcon production finished months ago and we are now well into 2017 so what is Ford doing? Living off the success of the Mustang? C'mon real people need a four door.

Nothing wrong with Mondeo, (unless you want to tow stuff I guess)

We have one in the family, it's large comfy, gets along nicely

Only problem is when compared to my Typhoon

There are no rattles, no diff clunk, no suspension clunks, no brake shudder.

Typhoon has 70K on the ODO on the third set of brake rotors.

Mondeo has 87K on the ODO, original brakes.

Only cars that have ever suffered from constant brake shudder is me EL, BA, Terry and BF all way under 100K on the ODO.....drives me insane.

Traded our 2015 WRX, ended up being too small with a baby capsule/seat in it, plus wanted something that gave me the option to tow the boat if I went to the coast with family! Looked at the G6ET, and from a family car point of view, safety aids blah blah, the Calais had it all over the G6et. plus the LS3 does have that V8 noise!
its the wifes daily!! I honestly preferred the STi for fun factor, but the baby won that battle!

There is no Falcon replacement & nor is there a need for one in the line up when Ford already have Mondeo..

The real question should be, where is the Territory replacement!! This is one of the largest segments in the market & Ford is no longer playing in.

As I understand, the bulk of the Aussie new car-buying public have shifted away from large rear wheel drive sedans, so cars of Commodore and Falcon configuration don't do well here.

Its all about sales, bar a few die hards no one wsd buying falcon.

Small cars are getting bigger so that takes Carr of moving people, and most guys towing stuff by 4 x 4 or SUV or dual cabs.

Falcon is in no mans land thirsty and unpopular.

Im tipping the F6 gets driven a little bit different than the Mondeo so its all relative.

But the Mondeo does 95% of what the Falcon did for normal people, and costs FoA sheds less more to sell.

What we really would like is an AWD turbo V6 mondeo, with a manual, that would silence the performance market a little.

In wagon form would be good too, something to challenge Subaru with.

Has 4 doors, large boot, same size...can tow...Sounds like a replacement.

But then again, as is the Ranger, Mustang, Focus...

Parents sold a falcon and replaced it with a Focus actually...

That the thing a focus is not far off the size of a large car these days and will suffice to move a family around.

So really you chose the Calais over the Falcon anyway. regardless of the Mondeo. Your next car may have to be a 300C.

The vast majority of Australian car owners no longer want a large RWD sedan.

Ranger / Hi-Lux .... Is where the replacement market has gone unfortunately.

Having said that.... Kia may fill the void in the next few years, starting with the release of the Kia GT Stinger later this year.

Agree, I think they thought Everest would fill the Void till the Edge/Territory arrived.
But it all seems a bit slow. We wont see it till 2018. I believe there's an update then.

Why would you replace a vehicle that is selling in unsustainable numbers with something that is almost identical.....and therefore also likely to sell in unsustainable numbers...???

The Mondeo is surprisingly only 16mm less in width than the Falcon, while the Focus is some 45mm less (than the Falcon).

Percent wise, the Mondeo is 98-99% of the Falcon's size:

Why would they bother to make a direct replacement for a car that wasn't selling anyway?

World platform, Falcon wasn't, Mondeo is

We have the diesel Mondeo's (wagons) at work, not a bad car, prefer the real wheel drive Falcon, but the Mondeo is OK

And surprisingly I prefer the Hyundai I30 diesel over the Focus Diesel - just a personal preference - we also have both of these at work

45mm width difference in width between large Family car and small hatch back s stuff all really...

30 years ago Falcon was a lot larger than Cortina and monstrous compared to an Escort...

Most will make do with the Focus these days...Power is more than ample. Mondeo is no less spacious than my Typhoon.. Infact my next car will likely a Mondeo, yes a V6 turbo would be nice...
