LOL, have done same. IME, cyclists show a bigger disregard toward pedestrians than drivers. Maybe its because (most) drivers realise they're piloting a 1-2 tonne block of steel that can kill, but cyclists seem to think in the event of a collision, the worst that will happen is a few scratches and bruises so its worth the risk.

That is probably fair comment but I think the reason is that cyclists and motorists share a common trait.

i nearly hit a pedestrian once. it was at night, i was cruising along at about 30km/h, and this person just stepped out on to the bike lane with their head in their phone. i could see it coming so had already checked there were no cars beside or behind me so i could swerve around.

i think the common denominator you are looking for is we are all humans. i hardly think impatience is unique to any particular passtime.

I wasn't suggesting that other activities don't attract impatience but I don't think that impatience is an inherent human trait.

You can disagree all you want, but on the bike I live by the rules.
