Last night I intercepted a vehicle, false plates, though not stolen, unsafe, unreg and no p plates displayed. I could have briefed this guy, but let him off with just the unreg. Now that is at my discretion. When other people are intercepted they may cop everything they have done wrong. Nearly all the people who have posted in this thread state they are not happy with the way that they were treated or were unaware of the law. Ignorance is no defence under Victorian law and if they disagree with the penalties etc their right to a day in court is there. And believe me, a lot of people who fight tickets, do get off. But the simple fact is they are driving cars that don't comply with Victorian, or other states, Road Safety Standards.

I'm just waiting for the day I get pulled over for something like this, I am begging for that dumb ***** who thinks I have a RWD or AWD or a Turbo or something... I'll laugh so hard based on stories I've heard from here and will probably get arrested!!! All I've had in 7 years of driving is a parking fine for parking in a loading bay whilst unloading boxes to deliver to local shops. Because it was a hatch and not a wagon/ute, I got a fine. Wasn't worth contesting so I paid it. So far so good!

The funniest one I seen was on my brothers XY
The car was in undercoat grey looked like a POS
He was pulled over and told that his car LOOKED unroadworthy.
My brother agreed, so the officer put a nice big yellow sticker on it.
With that my brother pulled out a RWC issued the day before and said something like
you will either remove it or I will take this further.
The officer removed the sticker in full
Make no mistake my brother was being a smartass but his car was 100% roadworthy
I know because it took us 2 weeks to get it there
