Did you see the deals they were doing in DEC $29,990 with alot of extras. Would be interesting in the profit that they made from it.

That ute result is stunning, it's usually much more competitive.

Up to $10k off Commies drive-away in December. That would have helped the totals, but hurt the bottom line...

http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Ar...eID=59992&vf=2

VFacts don't include exports though do they?

By my reckoning 5413 * $10000 = $54,130,000. Even if it averaged to half of that over the 5400 that's still $27,000,000 in revenue thay've just thrown out the door.

Now let's add this up with the revenue thay would have been banking on from the G8ST, the fact that the G8 sedan is now looking shaky as well, the extended factory shutdown and it doesn't auger well for the lion.

Will zeta end up being the billion dollar baby that broke the bank?

My mate managed to get a brand new VE SS on the road for 32k, albeit through a Holden HO contact, but I can't imagine that Holden would be making much profit on that price.
As long as Ford is making good money on each Falcon sold, the issue isn't as serious as it appears.

Local mechanic swears black and blue that parts and labour to build each car in Australia is about $8k before factoring in R&D, design and marketting costs.

$13,500 discount on a SV6 as opposed to about 5k on a Falcon.

Brand loyalty can be brought. I'm just going to have to get the bastard with really dark window tint so noone realizes its me.

Holdens strategic discounting has got them well over the line... VEs with 18s leather bluetooth park assiste for 29 kay or SV6 utes for 30 kay has made the difference for them...

Sad for Ford but when you have a 2 year old product thats already covered a fair amount of its design outlay you can afford to guts your prices.

bulldust!!!!

Also note Ford has a supply issue on utes atm as they didnt BUILD enough in 2008 and with the closure in december this may have attributed to the terrible figure achieved...

Fords in a bit of strife!

Ive got a feeling GMH is discounting to show GM US that they are still selling cars.

I too would kill to know what their profit/loss is like. 29k is just dirt cheap.

Aren't they shutting the factory down for this month. That should give some idea, perhaps...

As an aside to this... have Ford Oz moved to the Ford US way of production prediction i.e producing cars based much more closely on demand than simply the amount they can add to their book coming off the line?

They been doing that for a while. Customer orders first, and then cars that normally sell.

8 weeks is unacceptable, but a slight delay would be ok if you are optioning something out of the normal.

3/4 weeks max is fair IMO. Pretty big purchase to be changing your mind purely because of delivery. Although in a commercial sense you might need it then and there.

I doubt they took a loss.

If the cars are built and sitting around, they are simply cash that needs to be liquidated. The longer they sit, the less they are worth.
