One can seat 5 adults in comfort, tow a ski boat and doesn't cost $3000 for a major service, and it is faster from 80 to 120 kph.

6 is higher than 3 but M is higher than F, so it balances out.

FPV F6 is a large performance sedan with a 4 Litre turbocharged I6 making 415hp@5500rpm and has excellent handling for a 1815kg sedan. Pretty much the best bang for the buck performance car in Australia.
The M3 is a medium-sized sedan with a 4 Litre N/A V8 making 414hp@8300rpm. Excellent handling and cornering, strong torque from 3000rpm up and a power bulge. Kerb weight 1655kg In terms of performance, the M3 would get off the line quicker but the F6 should be faster at in-gear acceleration (eg. 80-160kph), mostly because it has 565Nm on tap at 2000rpm! Hope this was of assistance to you...

I'll be bold and say that you won't be buying a factory M3 in many shades of colour other than grey/black/white... they might accidently sell you a coloured one, but thats only because the normal grey spray-painter was on lunch....
F6 can be anything in the rainbow.... pretty much...

I would say the M3 would hold value ok, seeing that there aren't a lot around...
Still would not touch one...prefer an F6 anyday. 85,000 less...such great value.

You know what they say about Beemer drivers?....
Plus Mr Clarkson doesn't like them either I personally think they are good cars but in their price range, the C63 has it beat. By the way, if anyone want's to drive an M3 on a short track....on their PC get it here for free, it's very very realistic! http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...e/content.html

Letterman tonight had Paris Hilton as one of the guests...she had nothing to say, except about herself. On the other side of the fence is a family we know, rolling in cash. They have an X5 and some even newer Beamer sedan (bloody big), then the wife complains she can't afford this and that. Hmm...where to start... Australian cars are not the best in the world, but bang for buck, they're hard to beat, and inexpensive to maintain too.

cant believe all the M3 bashing going on.
whilst i know its a ford forum, try not being so 1 eyed. the M3 is a bloody fantastic car! (although the e46 model is the best one) but still and also as GCG said, more people will say "nice car" rather than "oh.. its a ford" (if that ever plays into your equation)

I disagree with a lot of what is said here - some of us do compare f6s to m3s. Value for money and in-gear acceleration goes with the f6. Prestige, lap times and build quality go with the m3. That would by my summary.
Most of us buying these would write off the depreciation off as a tax loss - which substantially decreases the pain. I did not buy a new car last year, so i got slugged with an extra $10k tax bill. I would prefer to spend it on a car than give it to doll bludgers and pensioners. The f6 is far better value, is Aussie, goes harder for a short stint, and wears out accordingly. It is built to a price, but is incredibly modifiable. The m3 is a superb car, with astounding handling, fine features, comfort, the ladies lurve it, and will cut a fantastic lap time today, tomorrow, and after 300,000km. But the service costs hurt. I would probably ask for a comparison between the m3, audi rs4, merc c63 amg, and the hsv w427. I am leaning toward the holden - (i will now run and hide!)
