Hi all.
Probably only of use to people who have a car equipped with the Sony AM/FM/DAB receiver CD player fitted into the MD version of the Mondeo. As you can see from the sig ours is a titanium wagon, but I believe the audio/radio fitted is not unique to that spec level. We have had the car for over 3 years now and have never had need to use the CD player, but it crossed my mind that I ought to see if it worked. It did - but when ejecting the Disc it did not complete the action. I do not know why - might have been because I switched sources during the operation or some such. From then on although a CD was in the innards it reported "no disc" I finally found a fix and I discovered the why of the problem. It appears that the disc had lifted off the drive spindle and shifted slightly towards the grippy eject rollers but had not engaged with them. The fix was to take another disc and carefully enter it into the load slot until I could "feel" the disc that was still there. A very gentle "shove" pushed the disc back above the drive spindle and the disc ran up and began to play. Using the eject button - and nothing else - the loaded disc ejected normally but the full sequence was a number of seconds duration before the disc appeared in the load slot for retrieval. Based on my experience it seems wise to allow the full eject cycle to complete before you touch any of the other controls. Hopefully this will assist anyone who has a "stuck" disc in their player. Cheers
