Sad reality money is worth more than life.
You can murder a poor person but what ever you do don't commit a crime involving money...

Some of it comes down to the actual "effort" to commit the crime.
Offenders who are convicted and serve only a few years for manslaughter, rarely set out deliberately to commit the crime. Events over a short period, or a spur-of the-moment decision often lead to the crime being committed. One-punch deaths would be a good example of this. This type of fraud on the other hand, like many white-collar fraud crimes, took considerable effort, planning, action, and follow-up activities to complete the fraud. All of it took plenty of time & effort, and presented many opportunities to bail out before the crime was committed. They invested many hours, weeks, months or even years into keeping the fraud/embezzling ticking over. This is what the magistrate is looking at when sentencing & deciding on the custodial term - the effort the plaintiff went to in committing the crime. I don't agree with it either - a close friend lost a son to a cowardly attack where a teenager went & got a knife to come back & "teach him a lesson" - which in my eyes is deliberately setting out to commit murder, as it required planning, but he served only a few years for manslaughter after it was downgraded from murder. Surely his life is worth more than the millions that Eddie Obeid gained by fraud? But Obeid will likely serve a similar sentence due to the effort he went to when committing those crimes. |

Odometer reading is just a number.... A 50000 km car can have just as many or more problems than a 150000 car. |

Buying a car like that from a dealer you would just have to assume the car has 100,000 more kms on board than showing. |

Hi
If you converted to a fairlane or fairmont dash or the cluster broke and you couldn't keep the same mileage readings and you sold car Could you just tell the new owners that the speedo readings not true and say what it's probably done And what about in nsw and vic where they have slips how do you's go about that And when upgrading dash or fixing broken one can you keep the readings on the new dash if it's different and write it all down, do you have to match speedo from new one to old one to keep same readings or can you just write it all down and explain to new owner if you ever sell them that readings not true and what about services or slips in nsw or vic |

But I agree. I recall one judge giving suspended sentences to a group of men who gang raped a 10 year old. I'm not going to say 3 years is excessive for this, but perhaps quite a few other things are far too lenient. |

Make an observation that certain ethnicities may be over-represented in some criminal activity, and you're a racist. Meanwhile, DV campaigns are generally directed at all men as potential abusers, yet they're never accused of misandry.....

You're wrong, there are campaigns to stop men being seen as the only potential abusers.

Pretty good punishment to be honest. Good to see the judges not going easy on scumbags like they usually do.

Where are our men's shelters? If you approach the police about DV being a male you'll get laughed out of the police station. Or the financial rape you'll get in the family court when it turns sour. Women can play psychological warfare with the best of them, they don't leave marks you can see, but because there is no visible mark it musn't be happening, right? |

A mate used to get absolutely demolished by his (now ex) gf.
I guess that means all women of all races commit DV though, am I right? |

Over 65 women died in 2016 at the hands of their patrtners. How many men died at the hands of their partners? Zero. It's always the same insecure emotional cripples who complain how bad women are. Plenty of gay men for those who can't form friendships with women, so don't get to down on yourselves.
