Customised with Ford’s ‘Special Service Vehicle Package’, buyers choose between a 4x4 or RWD drivetrain, with the option of either a monstrous 5.0-litre V8 or slightly less intimidating 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine under the bonnet.

According to Ford, either engine will ensure that “there is never a lack of power”. We believe them.

There are other additions as well. A high-output alternator ensures that the huge flashing lights won’t drain the battery in a hurry, and the easy-to-clean seats will certainly come in handy when arrests get, um, messy."

True. I can also see an advantage of having them locked up like that - when they approach a scene the dog isn't all happy and tail wagging on the tray, but it's in that cabin angry and waiting.

The other thing is the the dog is a sitting duck in the tray and with the amount of nut jobs out there.

I was more thinking that the dog is in a climate controlled area instead of in the tray with only vents for air

Most Dog's like to be where their Master is. Most would rather ride in the Cab near the " Boss " In the US there is extreme cold also in some parts. The Cab is the safest place, and it looks like they have paid attention to the comfort of the Dog. Safety and restraint ? who knows what they have done, it may be too long to unclip a Dog when you can press a button and the Dog can leap out.

My brother was saying the K9 section has remote controll for the doors. He said on an episode of Cops the handler was talking to a suspect the suspect attacked the handler a few seconds later the dog emerges and starts biting the suspectt

Also some of the K9 pods will open the door if it senses the dog is getting too hot in a parked patrol car

Hmm.. Sound like a good self defence idea. Junkie tries to carjack your F150. Emergency button on the key fob and Pop goes the K9 dog kennel and out jump two hungry Rottweilers and eat said junkie for breakfast. Rottweilers and driver then drive off on their merry way.
