Got the latest issue of the RACQ magazine today, to find out that in 2007 the Ford Falcon is languishing in 10th place
Overall car makers for the year stands at
The chart is hard to read to get accurate numbers, but clearly shows 1st through to 10th With the current crisis with the parts supplier, Ford Aus is quickly, rather than slowly going down the drain. Unless Orion pumps out numbers of in excess of 3750 per month, with Tezza up around the 2000 with a facelift, Ford Australia as a manufacturer of vehicles in Australia is in deep trouble. These stats are extremely worrying!!! I know it the end it comes back to $$$, but something must be done. Anyone with any thoughts on the stats and sitution??? |

Not good. Even if Orion is the great car we are all hoping for, with Fords reputation and lack of marketing I can't see this ending well for the Falcon.

Man thats not cool. I know that commo's are usually very high on sales lists in QLD (i think its the best state percentage wise), but to see ford so far behind is bad. They sold more bloody Lancer's than falcons, bah.
Oh well just have to wait for Orion.

toyota and mazda are definatly taking a stick to our local guys, it beats me why focus and fiesta sell so poorly against the others they are better drives than most of the korean and jap small cars and compaire well price and equipment wise i hope ford can stick it out and not go down the cheap and nasty road with their small cars like holden has.
falcons sales are sad if people can look past the latest and greatest hype of the commo they will see that its a great car still worthy of their dollars . bring on Orion !!!! |

Personally, I believe the V8 is the obvious thing between Ford and Holden and although mainstream people drive mainstream cars, they still like the idea of the V8 battle between the pair.
My opinion is that Holden sticking to the old pushrod V8 and making heaps of grunt out of it compaired to the Ford quad overhaed cammer is the key. I believe that if Ford got the old 351 Clevo back into production and made it out of alloy to modernise it a bit the Ford fans would come back but untill then, nobody is really interested in 4 cams and something thats just too big and heavy like the 5.4 ltr. I also believe they could get more power from the Cleveland aswell as fuel economy as the torque levels out of the box are amazing and with fuel injection and computers, it's an animal waiting to be born (again). The 350 in the Holden has been around for ages and Ford was doing great with the old Cleveland and even if they used the 351 Windsor they would prolly do better than the 5.4 "thing" they have now. Just my 2c worth. FPV70...

When will FORD realise that their marketting dept needs the sack ? and get a team in that can market cars ? That is the cause of poor sales.

For those that don't know, Ford have their own Marketing Graduate Programs. In essence, what this is, is Uni Graduates do a course with Ford where they learn how to specifically market Ford Cars. The bottom line is that Ford do their own marketing, rather than employ a seperate company to take care of their business. I think that this is a major element in the big picture
I see heaps of Swifts in daily driving, I was blown away to see the Navara Numbers, and the others are all just a sad truth. The fact that Laser outsells Falcon is deplorable |

Ford has marketing staff and various agencies. This is no different to any other major manufacturer in Australia - the manufacturer doesn't make the ads, promo collateral - the ad agency does. The media agency buys the spots and schedules advertising. What major car manufacturer doesn't "employ a separate company to take care of their business" with respect to marketing? |

When will you guys realise that Ford's Marketing department doesn't have an endless supply of money.
When will you guys realise that the majority of large car sales are fleet sales, meanwhile small or medium car purchases have the greatest percentage of private sales. When will you guys realise that the 2007 ford falcon is at the end of it's product life cycle, and it's doing what most vehicles, fashion etc do when it's out of date with what the majority of people want. |
