Anyone got any recommendations on good places to get window tint done in Melbourne? The difference sitting inside a car with and tint on a sunny day is huge.
Heard a few people rave about 3M tint, new one they have isn't metallic. Some say the non-metallic ones tend to go purple with time, but I figure 3M is fairly trustworthy. Anything to consider with non-metallic vs metallic films? Thanks! |

I dont think places really vary that much, its a pretty standard thing.
Just go darkes legal and you will be fine.

i found the 3M tints to be of very high quality ,something i could not say for some of the others including some of the big names. until a few years ago i would not use a non metalic film as they were all crap, just a cheap dyed polyester film , most of them still are. however the 3M company developed a way of impregnating superfine particals of carbon into the polyester ( product name is "CS Black" ). by using carbon they have overcome the colour change problems . another thing is that by using carbon for colour it has a cleaner black look and carbon will allow more visible light through then dye will- meaning that they can make the film appear darker to look at but still be legal. they give a lifetime warranty against colour change. i have had the CS Black on my BA ute since new (3 and a half years) and it has been outside nearly everyday and it still looks like new. i also think its one of the best tints to look out of from inside the car, very clear vision. black from outside - clear from inside without the glare or heat. :eclipsee_ the main thing to consider when deciding between metal/ non-metal film is that if your car has a window mounted radio aeiral (BA on falcons , subarus, camry, etc) the metal based film can cause interferance and reduced radio reception, can create a lot of static on AM radio a bit like power lines and with FM it can greatly reduce the distance from the station that you get reception. i hope that helps :
