Default VE Commodore - not so advanced after all?

Hi all....

Just reading through an article about the Holden development of the new Camaro and saw this:

Quote:

Holden is also developing the new Camaro, which is based on the VE platform. Benefiting from this development, the advanced architecture of the Camaro will eventually filter down across the VE range.
I thought that the "All New" Holden Commodore was meant to be "One of the most advanced cars in the world".... what "Advanced Architecture" are they talking about?

That comment is a total contradiction. The Camaro will be based on a VE platform but will spread technology down through the VE range. Huh?

It's all hype and advertising.

They aren't going to say, "This car is the same is the VT from almost 10 years ago, except it looks better."

They have to find a selling point.

the camaro will have more adcanced technology then the VE .. i dont exactly know what becoz i havn't read anything about it. but as the VE S2 come out .. some of the camaro's technology will rub off onto holden .. giving them ideas and such.

I Believe that the whole camaro concept will be based on the VE's frame.

im hardly ever right .. so dont take what i say to be right lol.

Maybe overhead cams on the V8, just for something different.

Actually they are only testing/engineering LHD protoypes here. It will be built in Canada. I doubt they will even build them RHD for Aus.

We didnt make the GTOs ugly enough for them :

Probably the same. We dont like their cars (Taurus) and they dont like ours (GTO). Why do Holden continue to push a bad product to them?

I once herd the Camaro was built on a cheaper VE platform. But maybe by the time the Camaro is out in 2009 the VE will get what they leave off now then ad in over the life time of a model?

well condering that the VE has McPherson strut front end, i can certainly seem room for immediate improvement on the VE platform in coming VF/VG? models

Theres nothing wrong with the VE, its a great car. Our new V8 runs like a rocket and I havent had a warranty claim yet, unlike the countless Fords we have had in the last 3 years.

Maybe we got a good one, but the overall service from Holden has been nothing but fantastic, whereas Ford have never contacted me after buying from them.

Is that dealer contact or direct from Factroy contact that you received from Holden? Whenever we get our Fords serviced we always get a follow up call from the dealer and that goes for the old '98 EL, 3 y.o BA or new Terry.

All cars are built different. We have never had a warranty claim on any of our Fords, and Ford have been great with us. Yesterday we dropped the Focus for a service, and they gave us a SBR hat.

I dunno whats funnier, the fact that you sound totally bias, or the fact that your writing a review on a car that doesn't even exist!!!

hey, i get mail quite regularly from ford after buying my ghia.... But that may just be because it's a ghia.

As far as the VE goes, im not a fan simply because it looks so plastic. The rear bumper being so large really detracts from an otherwise fine looking car

Product Marketing in full swing.... Gotta love it

I too am always getting follow up calls after getting the Xr and the Fiesta serviced. Even after we had an emergency trip to the dealer for a faulty oxygen sensor in the fiesta they contacted me 3 days later and again a week later!
