Two outstanding cars.
note even though the BMW's inline 6 is down on power and torque there's only 0.1 sec to 100 difference.

Great cars, c'mon Lotto...
I'd go the BMW just because every Sydney drug dealer seems to buy a C63. But in reality I'd probably buy neither and go for an RS4 wagon for practicality and AWD, I wonder why they did not review the Audi as well, surely anyone buying in this segment looks at C63, M3 and RS4. |

The 204 C63 has longer chassis rails compared to the standard C Class and the front guards and bonnet are too long to fit therefore you need aftermarket panels as the OEM’s are too expensive to cut up and reshape. The same goes with the OEM C Class panels as they are too short for the C63. I don't know of anyone making C Class panels for a C63 as the market would probably be to small. The rear quarters are pumped and the cars have very different front and rear tracks which means even a set off C63 rims won’t fit as the offset are very different to the C Class, again you need to purchase aftermarket. Then you start to get into all the other changes that allow the big diff and all the coolers and such to be fitted. Although to the eye the AMG looks like a tarted up base car like HSV does with a Commodore that is far from the truth, the basic appearance is there but they are significantly different cars. After 2005 when Mercedes became the sole owner of AMG and since the 2008 release of the C63 Mercedes intentionally allowed AMG to engineer and make design changes from that of the base vehicle to allow the cars to perform at the standard that the AMG's do today. No longer are they just straight line aftermarket tuner rockets, they now have to be able to do all other things as equally as well. That’s the reason you don’t see too many AMG clones around any more. So changing one to a C Class wouldn't be easy as you'd need a lot of unavailable parts to be specially made. |

Ah dam, I never knew, but it's not a market I follow given my bank balance or rather my lack there of. They still do reviews of XR8 versus Commos or Mustangs, don't think you can buy an XR8 anymore either but meh...I get what you are saying. |

That is good, given the Merc is 300kg heavier.

From the outside the exhaust sound of the M3 is - well meh- asthmatic thin wheezy sounding- not really nice or spine tingling. Not sure if the sound inside in enhanced ....
But, on the plus side for BMW is the M3 is quicker than an FGX XR8 with intercooler, not by that much, and in a certain part of 3rd that difference plateaus out. Will take our Miami 335s another 40 rwk odd to even it, and I estimate with an additional 60 rwk odd the Miamis would be quicker than the M3.

Let's all remember these "official" power figures are way off their real world outputs....
Stock M3/M4's are making over 300rwkw while a stock C63 S is around 340rwkw Gimme a W204 anyday, can't go past those aggressive looks and monster M156

I followed his rear up a hill -single lane, thinking given the rear wide sheetmetal and wide tyres, surely he had modded it, as I had not seen one close up before. Then when dual lane, he drove behind, alongside, front of my XR8 having a good look, before we err coupled...

$16,000 less for the Beemer and easy to do a lot with that. BMW owners modify there cars a lot more than Merc owners (forum numbers confirm). Completely different market for both vehicles.
