The Classic Car Show
The series covers everything to do with classic cars, from collecting and collectors to polishing up those rust buckets gathering dust in barns, to cars as investments and low-cost starter classics. http://www.channel5.com/shows/the-classic-car-show

A pity SBS cannot replay a decent quality episode without plastering a rubbish netflix add over the video
The clip on the Mustang was brief but good, lucky I managed to see that.

I watch a lot of car related shows on Fox.
I don't like the incessant talking to camera by the presenters who hog the camera when they can do the same with voice overs and show the car because that's what I wanna see. Unless the chick is good lookin' of course. |

My thoughts, there was a lot (read too much) prattle on. hell even the 'vette around London ...if that wasn't staged.
Dissapointed I was hoping for more, theres a session coming dedicated to the BMC Mini YAH

I too was disappointed and turned back to Foxtel after about 20 minutes.
Not interested in what the Pommies call classic cars.

Well I reckon it's better than cooking, dancing, singing, renovating etc.
Any car show is better than no car show.

Season 2 of For the Love Of Cars has started in UK...Don't know when here.
Series 2 Unlike the first series, the feature car of each episode will be shown being sold at auction at the end of the episode (instead of being sold at the end of the series). No. # Vehicle[3] Purchase Price Estimate Price Auction Selling Price[4] (TV Selling Price) Original airdate UK viewers 8 1 "Aston Martin DBS" £37,500 £70,000 £169,800** (£150,000) 19 April 2015 1,866,000 Work Completed: Stripped the car down to the bare metal to repair the rust and panel damage. Reupholstered the interior of the car with red leather and replaced the broken steering wheel. Resprayed the exterior of the car in olive green that was used for the DBS in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Replaced the automatic gearbox with a 5-speed manual and new Weber carburettors. Notes: Ant had already purchased the car before Phillip had got to see it, the car was an original DBS. They made the decision to restore the car to the Vantage specification. The Aston Martin was auctioned off at the NEC, Birmingham. **The car beat the previous world record of £96,500.

I watched it and found it a little difficult to enjoy. With a show about classic cars you'd think they would keep things a little less hectic in style to appeal to people over the age of 16. The hosts feel like they are constantly under pressure to not have more than half a second of silence.

Not a bad show.
Loved the barn-find Amilcar...what a fricking awesome little sports car!!! And hopefully the owned doesn't restore it but "preserves" it. That's a bit of a big movement in England among old car nuts..."preserve, don't restore"...make it safe enough to drive and register, however leave all the patina and age so people can see it as it was. Sometimes people ruin cars and bikes by restoring them too well. Think of the "Outback GT" and imagine what a waste it would be to history if it was restored to concourse condition...it would be just another GT...interesting, but just one among the crowd. As it sits now people would line up to look at it and hear the interesting story behind it. Don't automatically knock Pommie car shows...we can learn a lot from them... |
