Default Street fords mag gone downhill?????

What does everyone think of street fords these days, I dropped my subscription because of the poor quality and article rehashing between there mags.
I just bought latest one from news agent to again be disappointed all the rehashed eds. they put it in the plastic bag so you can't see how bad its got till you buy it. Sorry to say but street fords have really let there loyal readers down

I used to get every issue until about a year ago. I just got sick of reading about XY GT replicas and BA Turbos. Don't get me wrong, I love both those cars. It's just a bit boring if they cover them every issue though. I, like many prefer reading about some of the rarer, more unique Fords out there.

Same, I see them in stores but don't buy them. THE Phase IV magazine would have been the last one I bought.

I've never really rated Street Fords. I used to like Performance Ford magazine, much better quality.

I buy every issue of Australian Muscle Car Magazine, and most Street Machine magazines.

Why would you buy five copies?

I bought Street Fords from issue 1 until about June last year. I have the same complaints as everyone else. Too many XY's. With exception of the first issue, I ended up throwing the lot out.
Australian Muscle Car Magazine is going down hill rapidly too. I only buy it now to keep the collection going when really I should cut my losses. Personally I think its now light on fact and heavy on myth, rumour and personal opinion. Too many spin articles like how Holden had the Monaro on the drawing board when Ford released the XR GT which now apparently means the Monaro was first.... It's contributors and researchers are mostly former Holden employees and researchers, including journo Paul 'lionheart' Gover.

I was actually thinking thins too only 5 years ago though. I thought how long before they run out of material? AMC I think peaked to early with Moffats mustang in issue 8 IIRC, and the likes brining in the fans but since then people are just collecting for the sake of collecting.

In some ways Ford Fans can complain too much.

Try being a Mopar Enthusiast. You can never find a mag that is around more than maybe two years if your lucky, before the bomb out and 3 years later another starts with the same result.

Rubbish for the current and emerging generation of Ford Fan... ok if you are living in the 70s and 80s.

Try Perth Street Car instead... 250+pages of quality tech articles and variety of cars from 1930's to current, many built to a very high standard.. quite a few feature cars have gone on to grace the cover of SM and other high-end national mags.

Perth street car would be the best Aussie mag out. I prefer it to street machine tho I still get every issue of that.
Been reading psc for 10 years or more

Mags are good if there is a certain feature car your keen to read on.
I think forums have taken over most of their sales as there are forums these days for everything.

I buy mags once a blue moon but i got too many interests so im always tossing up between 4wd action, street commodores, dirt bike mags and unique cars..

This.

On forums you usually get to see all the build progress, and hints if your doing your own similar project.

Plus you don't have to read half of the fictitious stories some magazines seem to enjoy writing. (Not accusing street fords of this)

I still buy it, great bargain since you get Performance garage with every issue...But the Revolving door or X-series GT's and BA+ falcons is getting a bit stale...

Is that a mag issue though?

It will be what sells mags.

They've probably worked out the vast majority of magazine buyers (ie not forum grumblers) prefer either the old muscle, or modern b series.

Gotta do what sells.

Dropped it years ago. Like other people I got sick of the XY GT fakers and the BA turbos. Also the magazine was crowded with cars that were definitely not street legal. I bought Street Fords to see street-driven Fords and you can't tell me that a Capri shell with a wheelie bar and a 6/71 hanging out the bonnet (on top of a chev motor) is a "Street Ford"

You are right, I can remember a representative from the magazine coming on these forums and explaining that they have so many of those cars because it's what moves magazines off the shelves.

One issue last year was full of a certain workshops daily shitters .. most were not worthy of even being a feature car but hey money talks right ?

They cannot even spell people's names right or get the recognition details correct before going to print ..

I havn't bought any this year and i wont ever again !!

I got sick of seeing all the xy's and ba turbos so I called them up last year, they said if they put an XY on the front cover they sell twice the amount of mags and ba's are popular with the young guys.

Really should just be called "Roy Velardi's favorite cars.....and a few BA's"

I am sick to death of hearing about his time with the Phase 4, the articles go into bugger all detail, every second ad is for AN Racing (obviously a mate of Roys) and in the middle is the odd half assed article about how to bash an E series. Stopped buying it years ago, very disappointing.

On the other side of the coin, Street Machine is all about who can build the biggest burnout rig and flog the @!^!^ out of it until it breaks and then they have to rebuild it.

Yep Perth street car mag is a good mag. Have trouble getting it on the east side of the country sometimes. The American 5.0 mags are good but you pay near on 20 bucks from the news agent but I got a subscription online for a lot more respectable price.

If they had an editor who could spell, use grammar and generally command the English language properly it would be a start.

Last time I bought one was june last year in the news agent at Sydney airport before I got on the plane for London. I think I read it for 5 minutes got irritated with the blatant spelling mistakes (as Lotte mentioned) then put it down and played my gameboy. Through the rag in the bin on the stop over at Singapore. This is coming from someone who pretty much failed english at school .

I read Street Fords but only because it's the only Ford-orientated mag available since the TRAGIC demise of Street Machine Fords. It's a shame that so many misspelled words, grammatical mistakes, mislabelled images and incorrectly-ordered paragraphs make it through editing. I like most of the content, but it is incredibly rare to pick up a copy without an XY GT mock-up with 20" Simmons on the cover. You can practically guarantee that every issue has a XY GT replica as a feature car, so "this guy paid someone a lot of money to build a nice car with the correct chalk marks and replica tail light globes" gets old REALLY fast. I know Roy has a hard on for GTs and they are cool but it's time to make room for a few different cars.

Roy, if you're reading this, I'd love to give you a hand with the editing!

Guaranteed to find a error in the writing every page. I'm no scholar or gramma natzi but it is below elementary writing.

I was buying a copy here and there then stopped after the hyped Phase 4 article turnout to be about Roy not the car.

Not to mention the putting old issues in a bag with the new one to try and justify a $10 price tag.

SF had only a 1/4 of the content of Street Machine yet the same price?

SF should be sold for $2.50

If it has gone down hill recently, I'm surprised as I had would have thought it could not get worse than it was a few years ago.

I emailed them a few years back asking for more E-series and tech stuff but was told the same thing about featuring what sells.
Money talks but they could at least get on top of the errors.

I generally bought Just Commodores mag a fair bit just for the much more in depth tech stuff.

Have to agree with you, JC has a lot of good tech articles, and they're way better than SF's.
