An amazing amount of effort which looks set to fail miserably...
A MAN created a fake 60km/h speed limit sign and then photographed it to use as evidence in court to avoid a speeding fine, a court has heard. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/s...-1226730306435 |

What an idiot, way to dig yourself a massive hole to get out of.
To avoid a simple speeding fine....... He could have easily plead guilty and had the matter dismissed if his record was OK. Never ceases to amaze me the idiots you see in court arguing such nonsensical things. Reminds me of this, a well known Judge of all people BS ing to get out of a speeding fine: http://www.smh.com.au/national/forme...0320-93sr.html

I just noticed that in both articles they spell the word gaol "jail" is this the way we have to spell it these days because if it is I want to go and give my 2nd class teacher a huge slap.
Man she used to give me a flogging because I always used to spell it the American way. Sorry fellas...rant over. |

Gaol is still the correct Australian spelling but we have the uneducated and TV addicted frequently spelling it wrong and as we must worship the US it gets spelled incorrectly more often than not. I spell it gaol and correct those that spell it jail

I only learnt that spelling on an excursion to the Old Melbourne Gaol. Didn't make sense then and it still doesn't now.

as for the guy in the story he is a moron and deserves gaol time he fabricated evidence to pervert the course of justice and the courts don't take that lightly. a well known judge went to gaol for it over a speeding fine . if someone has a creative method for beating a fine without committing fraud good luck to them but committing a criminal offence to beat a speeding fine is just plain stupid

If he went to all that effort...a SMARTER criminal would of just pulled a speed limit sign out from somewhere else and put it in place where that one was and took a photo of it...****, even leave it there till council pick it up.
No im not telling you all to go do that to avoid fines...

Who would notice a "genuine" 60 sign missing from their street, then he would have had a perfect defence if they found a genuine sign planted there. Oh well…

If he got away with it he would of been a genius, but he didn't so he's a dunce. The spelling of jail is how I learnt to spell it when I was at school, I only found out the correct way later in life. But I'll never spell it that way myself as I'm use to the American way, as the Aussie way looks like gay hole.LOL

hah! Trading a speeding fine and some demerit points for some jail (gaol) time.
Someone's really S.M.R.T. I wonder if he will try for a takesies backsies clause. |

Generally American spelling makes sense. Most English spelling is silly because its roughly 30% french origin owing to the Norman Conquest of 1066.
Imajin how much time kud be saved in skools if speling woz lojikal and we didnt have silly werdz like 'knife' or 'cheque' or 'phonetic'. Hell, it wud even make our immigrants mor produktiv! |

One thing I have always wondered if someone switched the speed limit signs, would motorists travelling at the 'new limit' still be speeding

I knew of a guy who made a heap of fake multi nova cameras with a flash and all, then put them out in random places. It got in the papers. Not quite the same as faking a sign to fool a court. I think it's the "fooling a court" thing which has got this guy undone.

I know for a fact there are no laws or limits in Pottery's street, way too much evidence to suggest there is, head there for fun if that's what you seek.
