Does this make sense to anyone? Am I missing something? Pay more for less!

Toyota Australia manager public relations Mike Breen told GoAuto that the new model had been created to meet demand from customers wanting all these particular features on an Aurion.

“What we did was fitted these parts to the car for an increased price, so whilst there is no saving, it is meeting a demand that we have seen from our customers,” he said.

It would be a requirement for dealerships and car companies to do this. It was just the Journo describing it as "list price" plus charges. It wasnt an advertisement or anything, just a write up.

But then again, who really beleives these "thousands dollars of extras for nothing" scams. Holden currently has the Berlina International for $36990 driveaway with $9500 in extras. Its very hard to imagine that $36990 minus $3000 GST, $2000 stamp duty/rego, $1000 dealer profit, $600 delvery, $9500 extras (total $16100) =$20890, that Holden are being very honest with those $9500 in extras (maybe $2000 in extras with a $7500 retail mark up)

It is $9500 of extras priced at RRP - it even states that on their website...

But what is RRP markup for the leather seats and Touch screen unit?

who says the aurions arent selling? theyve been a great success for toyota. im sure that is a typo too. it is pretty funny the great cars you can buy now for the price you bought a crap ef xr6 15 years ago, no car companies would get away with that criminal pricing these days.

They are selling less Aurions now then they were selling Avalons when they dropped them. I guess the only saving grace is the link to the Camry.

So, which model Falcon do you drive again? Don't judge the EF Falcon - they can still run with the big boys. My EF is 225,000 and going strong. Not many other makes can put up with 15 Australian summers, and keep going.

while i agree with the defence of the ef (obviously) the 'not many other makes can put up with 15 oz summers and keep going' is pure fantasy

go for a walk out onto the closest busy road and count how many different makes of mid 90s cars go past.

Geez...quality post this. hard to find hat isn't rubbis about it.

1. Aurion's aren't selling based on published sales figues. It has been in trouble for over 18months now with very low sales and a fraction of the % share toyota said they wanted for it when it launched. So no, not a great success.

2. Now owning an EF XR6 i'm not sure what you mean by 'crap' xr6. Its a great car in terms of build (in fact save for head gasket problems its hard to find anything wrong with it engineering wise), is fun to drive and still pretty quick by modern standards. In its day it was a very respected sport version of a top selling aussie large car thank you...

3. Pricing wasn't criminal it was waht the market would support. There were alot of reasons why the cars cost what they did (tarrifs, market forces, numbers of makes etc.) . The EF XR6 cost more proportionally versus the base falcon because it included more specific features (diff, high spec engine etc.) and was alot rarer in % terms of overall sales. The BA/BF/FG XR6 is a great car but is far mroe a 'body pack special' for hire companies than the EF XR6 ever was.....

If you are going to come in here defending a pretty uninspiring piece of toyota white goods it would help if you at least tried to do it with a modicum of fact and not heresay and insults.

How is this helpful? Yeah most EFs probably are dead (no idea what % are still out there gettting the job done) but an awful lot of AUs are dead too based on what i've seen at my local wreckes.... Given you arre a well known AU fan surely you aren't implying that if 15 year old cars are now no longer with us it mean they were rubbish when they were on sale or even that they are rubbish now. If that were sure than alot of AUs must be crap then...but i bet you wont' admit to that....

As for the aurion...no it really isnt' a 'good' car. Its an OK car at best....reliable, reasonably well built, pretty good pricing/running costs/resale etc. that is about it. Its not as safe, or as nice to drive, or as comfortable as the class benchmark...which funny enough is the FG falcon....

Either way this is an odd sales pitch from toyota and in stupidly low numbers. Not sure what the point is but at least they got a bunch of people on a Ford forum talking about a car that is really hardly worth ever talking about....
