Default Nice Watches

There is a thread about big bills in which watches came up and the servicing thereof ( yes good watches do need servicing ). Watches are a real passion of mine and I have a couple of nice ones . Just curious if any other tragic watchophiles have any nice watches .

I have an

Omega Speedmaster 2 1861 calibre 1969 model ( Moon watch , the only watch approved by NASA for space missions .
http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/sp...r/professional
http://www.omegawatches.com/spirit/p...master-history

Breitling Skyracer ( Raven ) calibre 27 .
http://www.breitling.com/en/index.ph...kyracer-raven/

Everyday watch is one of the Mazda Rotary Watches Mazda had made to celebrate the Le Mans Victory back in 1991 .

I bought this as an everyday watch.
I asked the misses to get me one for my 30th, we went to the shop and I said 'that'd look nice after its been around a few engine bays.

she never bought it :/

I had to get one myself, and to think what her ring costs :/

I still haven't had it serviced, it currently looses 4sec/day.

I have an Omega Speedmaster 125 Centenary model. Only 2000 were made so how many came to Australia would be any one's guess. I expect a handful at most.

Rolex Submariner with Date. Will keep this one forever due to sentimental value.

Also had an Omega Speedmaster Chrono - Solid Gold Bezel but offloaded that a few years back and broke even after nearly a decade of ownership....

Was very close to buying an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore or a Jaeger Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph back in 2007......but bought another property instead and treated myself to the Fairlane!

And my good ol day to day Citizen Promaster. I've absolutely hammered this thing and it just keeps going.

Ocean 7 is a small American watch company based in Florida and only sell their watches on-line.

Having owned my own watch company and been in the watch industry for over 20 years, I'd guess they import the cases from China where 80 - 90% of all watches are made these days.

The Chinese can make very good cases if you supply them with very specific specifications and pay extra for quality control (like I did).

They are American, but use Swiss Movements and are assembled in Switzerland. Most likely with China Cases....

Therefore still swiss made ! ( thankfully ) - - -

Not necessarily AC/DC.
Depending on what vintage your model is, American marketers as well as others used Swiss cases until costs forced them to go Chinese. At one time I was the Australian agent for the American Belair Watch Company and they were using Swiss cases up until the early 90's and then changed to Chinese.

I am not privy to the case-back markings on your Ocean 7, so cannot tell the year of manufacture.

Up until a few years ago, Australian Customs would allow watches to be imported into Australia with "Swiss Made" on the dial as long as they contained a Swiss movement (like ETA). Didn't matter where the case was made or where it was assembled.

Why would you want glock even if you were a cop or a security dude? I would've traded for the watch too.

You did well.
Tags are OK and very cleverly marketed but way over priced.
They were (don't know if they still are) Swiss cases with the same Swiss ETA movements as used in a plethora of brands.

I was importing the same cases with Citizen movements (Myota) for USD$65.00 and selling them to jewellers for AUS$160, who retailed them for $450.00

I seem to inherit watches, A gold Pulsar from my nonno recently.
And this one that my other Grandad got from the Air Force after the Vietnam war. As he was a fighter pilot it has the years of service, his name and rank engraved on the back. Sad to be writing this...
It's at my fathers place but i'll get a pic of the genuine article it is however, the same as this...

Here's a watch that my grandfather gave to my missus. Its a Ladies Swiss Cymaflex Watch. It is solid 18k white gold and all the diamonds are VS1 clarity and colour D...all up around 1.02Ct I think it is. It belonged to my grandfathers mother and is from around the 1940's. Nice watch....lucky missus!!
