hey guys,
im new to this site and would like to ask some question about modifying my car because im unsure how to go about what i want to do to it. lol just keep in mind that i dont really know much about cars lol so im gonna sound pretty stupid ok!!! I have a standard V6 2003 BA modle its a dark blue kinda colour. Its my second car but I originally wanted a XR6 but unfortunalty I never got to save for it, as my first car i had only for 6 months as one day i parked it at work and some dick head went up to the bottleo in 4 wheel drive and forgot to put his hand break on so it rolled down and smashed into my car and wrote it off!! So my question is can i turn my BA into XR6 look alike? thanks for you time Nikki |

Welcome Nikki.
Now lets see...... You'll need XR headlights, front bar, side skirts, rear bar, rear spoiler, Wheels, and you'll need to get the suspension lowered. Also factor in fitment & painting. A few bucks there, suggest you shop around, some other members maybe able to suggest the best places to shop. PS: your BA is an I6 NOT a V6 (the Falcon has a straight inline 6 cylinder engine). |

If your budget is right, you might as well get an XR6. Decent ones go for about 20 grand now. Doing a complete conversion can be quite costly.

Welcome. The V6 comment brings back memories of when i bought my AU from a Holden!!! dealer and the sale note on the back window described it as being a V6. I pointed out their mistake but when the first service reminder came in the mail it said that my AU CLASSIC V6 is now due for its first scheduled service. LOL @ Holden Dealer :

Dump it, dark tint, nice aftermarket wheels, remove the badges.
It will look hot as Then you can get an XR6T motor put in down the track and go veryveryfast. |

Would look a bit different too, these days it seems I see two XR BA's for every non XR! I don't know if its just me, but there seem to be a hell of a lot more XRs than the XTs/Futuras/Fairmonts out there. PS, nice custom user title you have under your username Nikki!

Get some clear tailights they are really cheap for the B series Falcon.
My biggest complaint with new cars is not enough rumble ive just bought my AU Fairmont Ghia recently and love everything except for the exaust. I reckon a nice 2 and a half inch cat-back and some extractors would make it a lot more fun. Since the XR6 is so similar Im sure you can pick up a kit heaps cheap. All depends on your budget i would love a TS50 bodykit but im just a uni student so im guna hav 2 liv wif gettin some clear tailights and an exaust. What model BA is it? |

Hi Nikki766, and welcome. Me and quite alot of other members believe that the Xr6's are too comon, and a basic BA falcon, such as mine or yours, can be done up to look as good if not better than a xr6 but in a different way. As other member have said, clear tail lights, aftermarket BIG rims, and a lowering job will transform your car completetly.
Good luck! |

Yeah, I wouldn't try and make it an XR lookalike (and I'm not just saying that because I have an XR).
Like a few others have already said, Get the windows tinted, take the badges off, and find some nice wheels. Also invest in some good polish/wax and give it a good clean until it sparkles, clean cars always look 100 times better than grubby dusty ones.

Ahh the old Galaxie....coming soon to a vehicle crusher near you. Matter of fact it's more than likely already been to one and come out the other side.
Nikki, welcome to AFF, if yours is a non XR BA, I'd probably look for a set of wheels you like, any size from 17" to 19" is fine (depends on what you feel like paying and remember tyres aint cheap in the bigger sizes!), lower the suspension (should cost you around $600 for new springs installed, and a wheel alignment) and the decide from there what you want to do with it. There's no shortage of options for mods on B series cars!

Get a cat-back with twin stainless tips. Cut a gap in the rear skirt (like the XR models), so that you can see the exhaust tips - looks nice imo.

Lower it, get some nice 18inch wheels. You may want to consider changing the front look - the non-XRs look kinda plain.
