I drove down the uni driveway one night (there was a party on) and the cops were starring at my car as they drove past the other way. I figured I was doing nothing wrong and got back and realised my blue RICE parkers were on! lol lucky they didnt turn around!

Nothing in the law to say that blue parkers are illegal From what I've read all you can't have are white facing rearwards, red facing fowards or anything that may distract other drivers. Still RICE though.

You cannot place colored globes in mandatory lights such as headlights, parking lights etc.

I read this in the Road laws for the RTA of NSW, I guess it might be different for other states, but this was true specifically for any additional lighting that was not standard fittment. things like Neons, LED's and the like...

from http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/t...01407/s74.html :
" (6) When on, a parking light must – (a) show a white or yellow light visible 200 metres from the front of the vehicle; and (b) not use over 7 watts power. " and http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/t...01407/s78.html "78. Performance of tail lights (1) When on, a tail light of a vehicle must – (a) show a red light visible 200 metres from the rear of the vehicle; and (b) not use over 7 watts power. (2) A tail light fitted to a street rod vehicle may incorporate a blue lens not over 20 millimetres in diameter. " that's a Tasmanian site but I'd say it is the same everywhere. "Street rod" would be defined somewhere. |

In s.a as ive been defected many times the law is no lights of any colour doesnt matter if its a blue light thats not flashing any other colour then white or yellow i was also told pink by the officer but im not sure about that one lmao is illegal like underbody neons that dont flash or blue led parkers or those led washer lights or even a blue number plate light at the back its all illegal. On another note i was also told foot pedal covers are illegal as are aftermarket windscreen wipers its all getting pretty rediculous these days. They should ban people who cant consentrate on the road because of a blue light or fancy wipers not people who put them on there cars lmao.

well, a mate of mine got defected for not having a H pattern on his manual gear knob, the cop said "if you get into an emergency, the person whos driving the car wont know what gears to use"...
anyhow, anything thats colored is defect eg: neons, strobes, furry glowing dice .. |

Funnily enough (in QLD) you dont need to have the H pattern ON the actual gear knob, so therefore it can be on a post it note on the dash, it just has to be visable to the driver! The Mini Cooper S Came out wihtout a H pattern from the Factory - Try explaining that one! |

I don't have the H pattern on my gearknob, but like just about every car from the 90s, 1st is in the top left, 2nd below that, etc. If you don't know where the gears are, then you shouldn't be driving a manual. The only difference between cars is the location of reverse, but it's easy enough to find.
