Amazing stuff - aussie aussie aussie!
Waggot were also known for the twin-cam conversions for the Holden grey motor - something like 220hp from a twin carb 161ci 6cyl...

One reply to this post - that's pretty **** weak, considering the motor was an Australian alternative to the Cosworth FVA. The renowned Cosworth DFV was basically a merging of two FVA's.

Steady! I didn't see it before :P
Interesting motor, I knew Waggot did some fairly special Holden 6 heads, but never heard of the F2 beasty. Any idea why it didn't take off? Looks alot like the MX5 1600 externally. Lovely bundle of Bananas exhaust

The engine won three Australian Formula Two (AF2) championships. I believe CAMS rule changes spelled the death of the engine. AF2 rules changed in the 70's to production based 1.6 litre, single cam, 2 valve per cylinder engines and I don't think the engine was eligible for F5000. I have read that the Waggot DOHC/4 motors were pumping out 247 horsepower, which is pretty damn good for a 2 litre motor in 60's. (If a Cleveland was putting out the same hp/litre you would be looking at around 716 horsepower) Put the Waggot engine in a car with a total weight of around 400kg plus driver and you are looking at one fast ride. To get an idea of Formula Two cars were like, have a look at these videos of some historic race meets in Europe. http://www.qv500.com/racecam/video/spa.mpg http://www.qv500.com/racecam/video/pau.mpg |

Its funny how the ricers think that DOHC engines are "high-tech" and modern, when these motors where being produced back in the 60's.

All copies off this motor...
http://www.wilcoxengines.demon.co.uk/bda.htm The Toyota 1600 4AGE is dead set copy.. It took the Yanks and Poms along time before they fitted this style of motor in your average car...
