How to become the town smacktard in one easy step...

Having lunch at the lady's place on Saturday arvo when I could hear the sound of a V8 engine pulling circle work and burnout smoke started pouring into the house. Quickly I grabbed the camera and ran for the front door. As I got out the front I heard a loud crack! Followed by a massive BANG! like a shotgun. Then along with the smell of burnout smoke I could also smell cooking engine parts...

The background is the guy up the road had left his XR8 ute in the care of his "mate" who had been "testing" the capabilities of the beast for the past week or two. Most of the locals had been pretty ****ed at him for the disturbances of speeding and burnouts in the suburban streets.

On this day he was going crazy with laying rubber out the front. From what I can gather he overheated the engine, then munted the gearbox (pieces all over the road) but kept the boot in so over-revved the engine and destroyed that also. When smoke started pouring out the bonnet he must have panicked and tried to pull off the road and ended up into a tree.

He's the young guy in the white shirt...

Unfortunately I missed out of getting any action shots but here's what I caught on camera:

The evidence:

If it was my Ute he'd borrowed he'd want to hope for a custodial sentence. The power of stupidity is indeed infinite!

Nah, not really, its all heresay - all it shows is a damaged xr8 with a bit of smoke - none of the alleged hooning.

The police report would be of more use.

Nicolas, Best you get a dictionary and look up the work FRAUD.

Committing this is an offence.

The honourable thing to do is contact his insurance company and show them the pictures. This abuse of our roads should not be tolerated!

It’s dickheads like this that are the reason our insurance premiums are so high. Hopefully you’ll eventually wise up on comments like this one. Nicholas, insurance companies don’t just pay out your claim when you have an accident. they generally hand the claim over to an insurance investigator who does everything in his power to find a loophole for the insurance company to avoid paying the claim. If they even have the slightest suspicion of fraud they also get the police involved. That’s the way it works and if someone is stupid enough to treat a nice car like this, then I seriously doubt they have the grey matter up top to fool the investigators and get away with it.

Cheers, Danny

Although, that would be insurance fraud. If he got caught, he would go to jail. The smartest thing to do would be to tell him to pay up or face court costs.

It'll buff out!

Seriously, what a way to wreck a nice XR8. That is stupidity at it's finest. That's the way to impress people, blow up a ute then put it into a tree. What a tool

right after the rubber laying is where you'd normally stop not after you've fried the motor/gbox then to top it off he doesnt know what a steering wheel is and hooks it into a tree,if i was the owner that pretty white t-shirt would be red in colour..

I hope insurance doesn't pay and that loser's mate takes him to court for damages. I would have a hard time restraining myself on that little b*stard. Sadly, the only way morons like this learn is to end up paying off huge debts with nothing to show for it.

What a tool!!! Have seen worst. Brand new BA MkII XR8 ute, idiot had been drinking and thought he could keep up with a WRX around the corner in the wet. Lost control, car became inverted and took out a lamp post. Wrote off his ute, black in colour, which he had bought on a lease 1 week earlier. Still have the side skirt on my desk at work.
