An unmanned puma servo in perth accidentally sold 98 fuel for 14.9 cents a litre, people smashed it for 8 hours straight, supercheap and all parts stores sold out of jerry cans haha awesome,my wife just saw it on the news!
One of the pics I saw of the pumps showed 50 odd litres for around 7 bucks lol, thats so cool, good on those who got to take advantage of it! Last edited by STINKY NINJA; 19-10-2015 at 11:50 PM. |

Can't imagine you would be so happy if you were the business owner, and one of your employees had perhaps made a mistake setting the price?
Our anger at rip off fuel prices should not be directed at the small business owners... How much govt tax is on a litre of fuel again? Not to mention, a 20L Jerry can costs at least 20 bucks.. About the same as the saving on fuel!? How crazy.

Why would someone pay minimum $20 for a 20l jerry can to save about $20 on petrol?

Do the maths, they would have saved at least $1.35 / litre x 20 = $27. Fill your tank plus a few jerrys and your way in front on the fuel and got a few jerry cans for free

I did do the maths. At the most saving $20 a can. Even if the savings was $7 that is a lot of effort for such a piddly amount of money. Anyone going that far must be so desperate. You would get a better ROI by having one less beer.

Some people buys cars they can't afford. Its like putting new rims on the car but having the cheapest tyres possible on there.

Yay.. Free jerry cans!? I think if you had a need, and wanted Jerry cans you would have already bought them by now.. I Don't think the 30 dollar purchase price would be stopping you?
I have 6 already for the boats, jetski etc.. I would love a few more to trip over.

1. Purchase jerry cans.
2. Fill up jerry cans. 3. Take home and pour fuel from Jerry cans into other containers. 4. Repeat Step 2. 5. Profit.

Sounds that you have never had to work to make a buck.I can assure every oneon here that running a small business IS NOT aa licence to print money. In most cases it involves a lot of hours at a lower hourly rate than a lot of employees

The poor bloke who runs the joint has apparently lost $10s of thousands out of this debacle. And also faces potential fines for selling fuel at a ridiculous price. I dont think the fines are necessary given that its a genuine accident, and fines on top of the $10s of thousands he is already out of pocket for, he very well could be facing closure. I really feel for the poor bloke, I run a small business and know how easy it is to be looking at closure for one simple little mistake.
On the opposite hand there is an incredible amount of people who just saved a fortune on petrol prices. |

The Govt won't miss out.It gets its Ripoff taxes when the oil company sell the product not when the retailer sells,so the Govt probably gain a little through increased sales when he has to fill his tanks sooner rather than later.

Wouldn't the employee have twigged when he saw all the cars lined up, filling up but he's only doing transactions of $7 at a time? Someone would have had to notice...disgruntled employee maybe?

I would't feel bad at a servo, probably would at any other small business. Price of a barrel of oil goes up and next day all servos jack the price majorly and blame crude oil price. Barrel of oil drops in price and next day all servos still sell for the same price. |
