you are a P plater so no turbo , simple as that. when you learn to drive you can have a big boys car. you couldn't even keep your licence long enough to get a full licence ( and a long disqualification at that) and you want a turbo car. really getting sick of all these threads by P platers wanting to get more car than their experience justifies

Under old rules my mates had turbos and v8s. Ring TMR to confirm this is still OK. You might be a special case due to circumstances

QLD rules are different to those in southern states, please keep this on topic.
As grandpa said, check with Main Roads and get it in writing. Even if it is ok a P plate on a turbo will draw the crabs and unless you have a bit of paper with you, you may find that you are spend a lot of time trying to explain to young coppers on a Friday night who will not believe you without checking with a department that will be open again on Monday..... |

What flap said is true, not all are car savvy ones either. One tried to tell my mate he was putting his car on a tilt tray because he had a "turbo".... on his n13 pulsar... pointing at the pod filter... transport officer had to come to the rescue and correct them.
I have seen some p platers driving turbos recently so we MAY have finally moved to the "power to weight" laws. On another note, since being off my plates I have not been pulled up once in either my v8 or f6... its nice not to be profiled

Check with the RTA or whatever it is in QLD..
I live in SA, and when I get my licence back I will be on P1 and P2, however I will be able to drive a V8, Turbo, Rotor, etc as I am 25. Over here a P plater who is 25 or over can drive whatever they want.

You are able to drive whatever car you like because you are still on the old p plate laws. Been through this myself and never had any trouble with the police.
Also just checked Tmr website hand all it says is that you are allowed to drive any class of vehicle shown on your license and being on your p license you don't have restrictions on turbo and v8s. http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Licensing/...-licences.aspx Last edited by LightingBA; 02-02-2013 at 11:08 AM.
