After much deliberation we went for the Zetec over the Econetic. The price was really the clincher. Although we liked the idea of the Econetic (clean, green, economical etc.) it was the price of $25k+ drive away as versus what we ended up buying - a Zetec 5-door in Squeeze for $22800 driveaway. We also got mats and the iPod connector.
Anyway, we picked it up late yesterday and only had a quick drive, but we're really impressed so far - it's a little better than the 1998 model we had back in the UK!! Just trying to decipher the Audio section of the user manual. Has anyone else had problems understanding it? I work in IT and the way in which it's written confuses me - there is no order to it. With a bit of luck, if the weather holds out, we're out for a long(ish) drive at the weekend. |

Good call. Now if they just brought in a normal diesel Zetec without the Econetic gubbins, I'd be interested.

I second that John. I'd sell my petrol Zetec in a heartbeat, providing they brought the 1.6L diesel. Supposed to be a ripper of an engine. With the Mondeo TDCi model being killed, and the diesel being offered as an engine option rather than a spec option, hopefully Ford will do the same with the Focus, and Fiesta. Not sure if the Thai factory can produce though?

We're putting our order in this Sat for a 2010 model Zetec in Vision. $22,600 on road with no options. I could have had a 09 model for the same price right away, but I figured as there wasn't any price discount to take an 09 model, I'd wait til late Jan/early Feb for a '10 plate.
We'll probably add the mats ($120) for starters and maybe a window tint ($395). We had our focus and prior car tinted at Tint Mart and they were a fair bit cheaper and did a good job. Is the iPod cable something Ford specific or can I buy it at Dick Smith?

I got my windows tinted for $200.00. Look around mate. You have a great price on the car though. You can use any three pronged cable, but it needs to have the three prongs like the Ford iPod cable (can't be like the Apple USB cable with only two ends).
