Angry How do you get egg yolk off your car paint?!

Hey guys

Every car in my court got egged last night!!! :

I've got most of it off except for on my rear quarter panel when i think it originally hit

the white yolk has baked on to the paint during the day (thanks to Melbourne's scorching heat... grrrr!)

i've tried to scrub it with soapy warm water with a sponge but no luck

any ideas? thanks

Daniel

try prepsol(prepwash) it helps when u remove your badges, when the glue sticks...when my xf got egged i use half a tin to remove about 300 eggs worth after a few washes, and it got it all off. motospray prepwash is the brand.

if thats the case, grab a tin tomorow, or, better yet, hit up some of the people in the court you are in! its pretty common stuff and SOMEONE is likely to have it and will have already cleaned off their car with it. incidently, thats kind of how i got my tin.

It's annoying - my old Hilux has been egged about 4 times now. I used a couple of different car wash liquids I've got lying around and lots of water and and an imitation enjo car wash mit.

Just get whatever you can find and keep washing it, at least it'll stop it from getting baked on.

If I saw someone egg a car I'd break their wrists.....

if you do obtain a can of prepsol, dont just slosh it on. use a soft cloth and work in circles on trouble spots over and over, but spray with water from a bottle every now and then. this will take your utmost patience but it is worth it.

Take a careful look where the egg hit, it might have cracked the paintwork

Seriously, my taxis get egged regularly and the damage it does to the paint is unbelievable for a supposedly soft egg. They are normally moving though so if yours was parked impact will be less.

I just use water and elbow grease, sometimes a plastic spatula on the harder dried on bits.

I suppose it is better than a rock...just

Police should take these menaces more seriously but there is no revenue involved is there, just paperwork.

my car was egged 3 times since christmas
1 day i let it sit on the car because the police were comming to take a look and have a chat about it (confrontation with neighbours)

the best way i found was quick detailer... the mesh side of the lambswool wash mit from meguiars to get the hard baked stuff and just mix up a REAL STRONG mix of carwash and just keep soakin it

the paint under the egg will be etched and will need a respray(bare metal to fix it YAY)
then there is the chance the egg shell cut its way through your paint like a razor blade as it impacted... (i have about 6 of these impacts on my car)

needless to say.. we now have a security camera.. just need to set it up properly as the program doesnt like running too long i think its because its the external HDD we are trying to stream it to..

My BA Wagon got egged recently but i was lucky enough to be close to home so i washed it off straight away.

I also know what house it came from and lets just say, their ride will never be the same again. Initially, i only egged their car back but i have since discovered that the egg went under the bonnet and all over the radiator support panel.

Hence further action has been taken. That's off topic but !

A-Holes with nothing better to do.

All the best with it EBII Falcon.

Let us know how you go with it.

Adam.

Man, having things done to your car is never good. Like when someone accidently hits your door with their's whilst in parking lot or what have you. But when it's deliberate it's a lot worse and obviously invokes a lot of negative feelings (I think when I get like that it's called rage) But any people who have had it happen, and 'think' but don't 'know' exactly who has done it, retalitating and doing over their car is just as bad. As the favour gets returned three fold every time...

Good luck with your cleaning. Gun wash or paint thinners also works well for cleaning off crap from your paint...old rubber from moulds, road crime etc....Do test it on your paint first just to be sure. I've used it on numerous cars with no problem, but better to be safe than....having an egg mark and a big streak....lol..Clean the gun wash off again afterwards obviously.

Finding the bastiges and giving them a good pummeling normally helps your cars paint.

I just removed the stripes on my XR4 which left a fair bit of the nasty glue under the stripes on the paintwork.

After much reading on the net as to what would get it off without damaging the paintwork I found the best stuff was the humble "methelayted spirits", it worked great and didn't damage the paint at all .... just gave it a good wax afterwards, good as new.

Here's a really stupid one for you. A mate at work read that spraying CRC from aerosol onto the left over sticky parts and rubbing off worked...

I though it would be a bad idea, though worked like a charm and didn't mark the paint at all.

My car was egged a couple of months back. Have a fair amount of small chips where the egg hit, and they are too small to touch up. I was quite ****ed off. If only I knew who did it....

once had an egg dropped or thrown from a block of units to the street below and hit the roof of my car while driving along, next morning had a look at where the egg had hit and it damages the paint in a funny way,it comes out in sort of a spider web effect at the eggs breaks gradully in. I now have another car with this same pattern and now now it was caused by on egg.check your paintwork where the egg actually hit the car.

Yea, that's the type of effect it had. Larger chips where the egg hit, and that spider web effect as it slid down. Can remove it without rubbing it sown and painting the panel.

Bastards!! I had my BA XR8 egged when Ford won Bathurst. I noticed it when i was about to go to work so it cooked while i was at work and then I went straight to the car wash after work and cleaned it up. Had to scrub it so hard with the brush that there are scrub marks now and I have probably 3 little chips that came off.
It's bloody annoying! Why would you do it?
Gotta give my car a good cut and polish i think, to rid the rear quarter of scrub marks.

Thankfully school holidays are over soon so there should be less of this happening.

We have a marine grade cutting compound at work, but I can't remember what it's called. I've used that on a few marks that nothing else got out and it worked really well.

I even tried it on a scratch that had paint in it on my tail light, and that came out too.

If you keep it waxed? It helps as it won't stick as bad..
Plenty of water and pure soap. Leave wet towel over it for a couple of hours, then wash off..

Go down to the supermarket and get some bacon and have a good old fry up on your paint work. Doubt it will get the egg off, but you will have dinner sorted.

Yeh I have had it happen to me also, some bloody low life. I tell you what they need stoning not egging. Anyway try kerosene as it worked for me, but have plenty of sudsy car wash handy as you apply it and running water. Good luck
